Proof SAE's Mint issued boxes w/COA

If you had a set 1986-2004 would you sell as is or send them in for grading and then sell them ?

I'd sell as is ,getting them slabbed waste of money, there are an abundance of them on the market, my frist thought.

If you can get all 69's its a break even proposition at best. Get a 70 or two and you will come out well ahead. But any 68 becomes a dead coin that is worth more out of the holder than in.

Short of the 95W, I have a set of PROOF SAEs in the mint boxes and no, I wouldn't get them put in slabs.

I also won't get my nearly complete modern commem collection in slabs.

I just don't see the logic in it. I intend to keep them until I croak, after that, my family can do as they choose and I've

left instructions as to the best things that they can do, however, unless they are on hard times, I believe they will keep

    them in a family collection

    Sorry for the longwinded answer

SAEs look so damn good in their mint boxes! It's one of the few things the mint has actually done right!

I concur. The only reason to break one out and send to a grading comp. is if it was for sure going to come back 70.... and very few people can guarantee a 70.

BTW: I recently sold my American Eagle unc set + 2 proofs for $350.... I think I made out pretty good.

  • I'm collecting a proof set with boxes/COAs and another PCGS set. I won't send them in. FatMan is right - PR69s are everywhere and PR68's are worth less than unslabbed coins. Lately on eBay, I've noticed some years unslabbed with boxes and COAs are selling for the same as PR69s.

Anyone have the 1995W? Where/when did you get it and how much? I should have bought about a year and half ago when they could be had for $1500. PM me if you want to sell yours image
