Should I spend my 18th Birthday at a Coin Show?

airplanenutairplanenut Posts: 22,149 ✭✭✭✭✭
We take possession of our house in Baltimore in 20 days (my mom won't move until I graduate high school here in NJ).

With this in mind, I've got a place to stay and easy access to the Baltimore Convention Center by train for the Baltimore shows (I hope to get to the December show)... the March show, however, runs through my 18th birthday. From what I gather, my parents wouldn't mind me being in Baltimore during that weekend as long as I can safely miss a day of school (I'll be a second semester senior by then image)...

So the question... should I spend my 18th birthday at the coin show?

OK, but only if you spend your 21st birthday in a bar

Make the family celebrate your birthday the weekend before the show, so you'll have $$$ to spend at the showimage

I spend my 18th birthday with a bunch of degenerates, smoking too much weed and drinking lots of budget beer- I'd say you could do a lot worse than spending yours at a coin show...... image

Numismatics is among your greatest passions, if not your greatest, so I say "YES!", its your birthday, you should be able to celebrate in a venue that gives you the greatest enjoyment.

I would have voted differently if that option was provided.

Sure, why not? That's where I spent my 35th last Juna and had a grand 'ol time.

    Jeremy,

It's your birthday, you can do what you wanna!
Maybe you can find a few minutes for the family when you get home from the show! Have fun!

Go to the show, you'll soon find out how things start to get into the way of doing what you enjoy, and doing what you must.

I thought at 13 you become a fountain pen (I'm really too young for that old one...)
  • I hope to celebrate my next B-Day at a coin show, especially a major coin show like Baltimore. If your family feels very stongly about you staying put and celebrating your 18th with them, then family before coins. Otherwise, go to the show and enjoy. If you do, I'll envy you. image
