got back home from spending the summer with my aunt and uncle. When I go back home there were a few packages waiting for me and one of them contained this very cool 1920 20 centavos. The obverse of the coin has quite a few die cracks that can be easily seen in the pics. So what do you think of it and also what do you think that green spot is on the obverse of the coin? The coin is a lot golder then the pics depict it to be.

I don't see any green spot?

I do see a small whitish speck on the bottom edge of the cap.

PS- there's something about the wide rims on that coin that I like, for some reason. I guess it frames up the design nicely.

The white spot that you mention is what I am talking about. It is really green in real life but when I compressed the pics it turned white. Here is a closeup of it.

Just a little blip of verdigris, maybe. Work at it with a wooden toothpick and a little Vaseline. It's not that distracting.

That will be kind of hard to do considering it is graded by NGC and that is how I am going to leave it. It is not that distracting but I thought I would ask what you all thought it might be. Is it liable to spread or is that as big as it is going to get?

Hmm. I wouldn't have guessed it was in a slab from the pic.

Most of the better services would've bodybagged the coin for "active corrosion" if it was worth worrying about. I wouldn't sweat it.

What's the NGC grade?

I wouldnt use a toothpick on an uncirculated coin. Id just leave it alone, even if it were to be released from its tomb.

That's some die crack!! I'll bet not many more were struck before it went kaplooie.

The green speck could be a spot of verdigris or it could be a bit of fluff that got entombed with the coin. Keep it in a non-humid environment and it probably won't spread; if it is foreign matter, you can get NGC to reholder the coin.

It is good to be home. Thanks for the tips everyone. The coin is graded MS-65 and it sure is beautiful. I really like the wide rims and the obverse design. It has a lot going for it.

Great design, and the die cracks are actually pretty cool. And as others has said, I wouldn't sweat the speck.
