A friend of mine collects counterfeits. He showed me this one and I just had to share. The weight seems OK, but nothing else is.

    How was that produced?
    Cast?
    Struck with dies?
    Altered date on real Peace dollar?
    Always looking for attractive rim toned Morgan and Peace dollars in PCGS or (older) ANA/ANACS holders!

    same questions as ANA ... if that's a struck coin with an unmodified date I would be really interested to hear more ... especially considering the other "soviet" coins of that era

    It seems to be a poorly done cast coin. The diameter is slightly larger than a standard coin, it has no silver "ring" at all, the reedings are ill-defined. and the instant "look" of the coin is all wrong.

    Anyone want to see the reverse? There's something quite amusing about it.

    Maybe its a lead coin since it has no ring.

    Yeah, I have a 1927 Morgan that was probably made by the same company. They didn't do as well with the date figures on it though.
