Heritage NY Signature Sale...Bust Halves / GRADES REVEALED

I couldn't be at the computer during the auction last night, so I put in a absentee bid. I had expected somebody on the floor would have swiped this one away. I sure was suprised and extremly happy to see that I was the winner.

I think that this coin has a shot at an upgrade. Without peeking at the auction results, give your opinion on the grade. I'll let you know what she is slabbed at now.

Grades Revealed

The 1814 is slabbed by PCGS at MS63...If some of the areas mentioned turn out to be from a weak strike rather than wear, I hope to crossover to a 64, atleast maybe a 63 *

58-eyebrow/ear, but don't think wear-if your camera work true, this is orig. piece with easily detectible mint finish-color is correct for orig.honest coin and the colors are not often seen in this piece . Also, not sure about clash, have seen others with minor lapping effect that resembles this. This piece on the whole -63.

Dispite flateness on eyebrow and on curl over ear, the overall appearence seems to

be MS-64. Very nice origonal coin. Might have been graded MS-63 and could be upgrade potential.

I also missed the bidding deadline. I called Heritage office 5 hours before the auction. They told me they only accept $5,000 minimum bid per lot on phone ....... is this a service to consigners? Why did some many folks here recommend Heritage??????

While I don't want to spoil the party by revealing the grade, I will say that I viewed the coin in person in Dallas last week and it looks better (and prettier) in person. NICE coin!

These coins are difficult to grade when they're in front of you, so I'm not going to venture a guess as to its assigned grade. Nice image, and if Mark likes it, well, that says a lot!

Don't mean to "burst your bubble," but in this market, if an auction coin has a shot at an upgrade, its selling price will reflect that chance. That's just how it is. You are not going to find any bargains for a valuable type coin. The best you're going to do these days, unless your an error & variety kind of guy, is to get a solid for the grade coin priced 'right,'

Crazy: That's a beautiful and original looking Capped Bust Half. It looks uncirculated from the photos, so if you were fortunate to get an AU-58 "slider" with that kind of eye appeal that would be a great buy!

I'm anxious to hear the coin's grade. It certainly looks about MS-63 from the photos.

My guess at the grade is 53. It looks circulated to me, and I was a little tough since you thought it would upgrade. I could see it in a 58 holder. My apologies if in fact it is uncirculated.

i've seen both coins, & they are exquisite. both plastic co's did an exemplary job grading these coins. you done good, VERY good! (or should i say, very ms...)
