A nice Barber. At least a VF30, more likely a VF35. To achieve the technical grade of XF40, the band below LIBERTY should be all there but can be weak. From your nice pics, that doesn't appear to be the case.

I like it at the VF35 level and I'd speculate ICG did pretty well. For some odd reason, ICG grades Circulated older coins fairly well. What kills them is the "PR70" debacle, and their MS67 grade (especially with Lincolns) is highly suspect.

I'd buy that coin at the VF-35 grade. There is a possibility that ICG graded it as EF40 though.

dunno why so many plastic-blinded forum members think icg is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO far off in grading. both plastic co's seem to grade w/in a reasonable tolerance. disclaimer - i don't buy "high grade" super-duper dimple-white coins in either plastic, so i'm referring to circ'd coins, you know, "normal" stuff.

I think it would be an EF-40 at ICG. PCGS may call it a VF-30.

Great photo, however...

IMHO: that pic is about 500x the actual size, at that magnification, I'd say VF35 however... in reality with the naked eye or with a 5 to 10x loop... most likely EF40, mabye EF45 if the coin has luster.

LIBERTY letters are full, but the band is worn below the wording... however, there is a true jaw line on that coin (chin to ear).

With the naked eye, I'm sure that coin has sweet eye appeal.

Speaking as one of the resident Barber Half experts, here's a case where ICG got it right. The laurel wreath detail on this coin is a classic VF30 for any Barber Half later than 1909, but there's a little more wing feather detail than what a true VF30 grade should display. That should warrant a VF35 grade overall, but it is definitely on the lower end of that grade.
