Any thoughts -- I need a toned one for 1911 Proof Set.

2. Hard to decide from those pics (especially without reverse pics) but the first looks nicer
3. Are those pictures to the same scale?
Check out some of my 1794 Large Cents on www.coingallery.org
Isn't your 1911 Quarter a PR66?
If it is I'd just wait until a little nicer Dime shows up. I'm sure one eventually will. It would be good to have a proof set that is better balanced in grade, IMO.
BTW what does coin #2 grade?
I voted for #1
#2 is too big for a dime

Shame on you, Frat. It IS the same coin.
It just goes to show how you can play games with angles in scans and turn chicken Sh** into chicken salad with trick photography.
Photo #1 looks like a classic example of a toned, well preserved Proof Barber coin. Photo #2 looks like a dull, dark coin where the toning has gone too far. BUT if you look at the toning patterns and marks, you will see that the photos are of the same piece.
Either way, I'm passing on this one. Not because of the grade, but it probably isn't going to match the toning on my quarter that well. I'd rather have a matched set -- toning than a match set for grades.
Thanks everyone -- just goes to show, you gotta do your homework.
