Probably. Let's take up a collection....Gloves, $5, good counterfeit detection guide....$25, so $30 in total. Next thing you know, we'll be buying him coins! Hmm....let's see...1804 Dollar, about $2 million, 1933 St. Gaudens....about $10 million....wow! Just $12 million dollars! Hey, where'd everyone go?

    Indeed!image
What is money, in reality, but dirty pieces of paper and metal upon which privilege is stamped?
  • It would be better to buy him a book that teaches newbies about coin collecting and the proper way to handle numismatic items.
  • I say we just rag on him some more, it's cheaper and probably just as educational. image

Tough Crowd. I suggest that we let him know that handling coins that way is inappropriate and let him know the correct way to hold a coin is to only touch the edges. We might also suggest some cotton gloves. Just maybe this new member came to this forum to learn about coins and didn't come here to be insulted.image
