Sweet stuff, Dimitri- are you submitting those slabbed coins yourself, or buying them that way?

It's a rant and I'm not good at this. What I wanted to say, is that the Darkside has changed my collecting habits and perceptions . It has a very positive effect on me, and for some reason I get increasingly indifferent to the idea of ownership that haunted me for years. I wouldn't be surprised to see myself selling the whole lot, but not just yet.

Although, being an American, I'm somewhat more materialistic than an idealistic Greek like you, Dimitri , I really agree. Since I began posting here, I have learned so much and have seen so many lovelies I will never own as much for lack of lifetime as money. In fact, I have learned more about coins I don't own simply by helping people identify their odd old foreign coins ... as they say, the teacher often learns more than the student! I've also met all kinds of people from all kinds of places -- on this forum and through buying from people all over the world -- and really enjoyed sharing and learning. I find, though, that the larger my collection grows, the less I can go back and enjoy any single piece. I still hope to find the time to acquire and become proficient with a digital camera so I can build a nice "photo cabinet" and purge much of my collection. That won't be soon, but it will happen and it will be a good thing as some other collector more focused on these areas will benefit from also being a custodian of their history.
Come on over ... to The Dark Side!
And your musings on collecting and philosophy.....love it! Thanks for being a part of this community, and naturally I hope your interest in coins (or the community) continues.
