PRICES FOR: "Which coin would you rather have and why?" thread - this one with auction coi

Following are images of six coins I recently viewed in the upcoming Heritage sale. I thought it might be fun to compare the coins AND "guesstimate" their prices realized.

If you feel up to it, please let us know which coin you prefer in each comparison below and/or what you think each might/should sell for.

In order to make it a bit easier, I have included previous prices realized information provided by Heritage, for coins of the same date and grade.

I like the second Washington, first Frankie, and the second commem. According Heritage's estimates, I'll guess they'll sell for between $1 and $1000000.

Cause they ain't as ugly as the other coin pictured.

2nd Washington--looks cleaner, has nicer color with fewer spots...

1st Frankie since the 2nd looks washed out and really ugly

1st Long Island--probably has better color, but I'd have to see it, first. I wouldn't bid without seeing it/having someone trusted see it.

I like toned coins Mark. But I would pass on all of those.

Unless the toning is way better than the pix, I wouldn't bother with any of those coins...
Prices - moon money is my bet (sigh....)

I like the second Long Island, Mark. But, its a close one. And it's just a very arbitrary eye appeal thing.

The Long Islands look like they came out of the same card. Do you know this to be the case?

Washingtons: I really like the better luster and contrast to the peripheral toning on Coin 2. Price $1,955.

Coin 1 appears to have luster subdued by original skin. Could sell for more than #2 to someone who will dip it to bring out luster and resubmit trying for a 65.

Frankies: I’d go with the blue tone @ $950. Coin 2 has more luster but I don’t like the speckled brown toning.

LI: I like the cameo effect of coin 2. $1,550.

Second 32S. $2900 and some change is my guess.

First Franklin, $1050.

I don't like either of the commereative halves.

Sorry (for my poor choice of examples) folks.

Most of these coins are noticeably more vibrant and better looking in person. In fact, I am not ashamed to admit that I have placed bids on some of them.

However, in starting this thread, I was going more by my recollections of their appearances than I was by the way they actually look in the images. I did not do a good job of putting myself in your shoes in order to judge the coins, and that was unfair to you.

I'll come up with another one before too long and will make sure it's better.

1932-S Quarter #2 (My choice) $1900.00
1950 Half #1 My choice) $750.00
1950 Half #2 $550.00
Long Island #1 $600.00
Long Island #2 $550.00
I don't like either of the Long Island pieces.

I expect auction prices to be unspectacular for most coins.

They're Heritage photos folks, use your imagination or down load and tweek the images to augment color concentration, brightness and contrast.

I am not so sure about these pictures and I wouldn't want to make decisions involving $$$$ of hard earned money without having a much better look. sorry... but for the fun of participating I will say the first 1932-s Washington, the second Franklin and the second Long Island... I guess my why answers may not be too helpful. I like the overall appeal and lustre with the light toning on the Washington. The first Franklin just does not look attractive so 2 wins by default. As for the second Long Island, I have a feeling it looks much better in person.

2nd Quarter-Nice, original, album tone and well struck. Should bring crazy money...2700.00
1st Quarter-Nuthin' to write home about...soft strike, ugly tone...1650.00

1st Half, although the recent concern over AT might scare some people...1050.00
2nd Half is the safer choice, though not my choice...650.00

Toss up on these, I just don't like either one. Both reverses are nice, but the obverse just kills it for me. I'll take no.2 for the cleaner surfaces at.....825.00
I'd pass on no.1 at about.....725.00

On the quarters, I agree with catch22. In fact, that 2nd 1932-S quarter looks awful close to MS-65.

I also agree with catch22 on the Franklin halves although I think the prices will only be $200-$250 apart.

The LI #2 has a nicer obverse - the reverses seem pretty close to each other.
Prices on the LI commems? I don't know.

Washingtons:
#1 -- $2,100... original, but homely
#2 -- $2,600... because of positive eye appeal

Franklins:
#1 -- $500... original, but homely
#2 -- $800... because of positive eye appeal

Long Islands:
#1 -- $800... negative eye appeal
#2 -- $1,300... because of positive eye appeal

Update #1: Both Long Island's have already topped my $1000 hammer bids.

Here are the prices realized:

1932-S 25c #1 PCGS MS64 $2702
1932-S 25c #2 PCGS MS64 $2415 - I preferred this one due to its attractive rim color (which did not image real well), an unusual characteristic for this issue.

1950 50c #1 PCGS MS66FBL $1150 (I liked this one much better, due to what I thought was very pretty color on both sides).
1950 50c #2 PCGS MS66FBL $460

Long Island #1 PCGS MS66 $2645
Long Island #2 PCGS MS66 $2530 - I couldn't decide which one was my favorite - both displayed unusual/very pretty toning for this issue. By the way, these list in the CCDN at $575 and in the CDN at $900 bid!
