PVC question

I've been storing some of my coins in plastic bags (baggie/zip-lock sandwich bags). (I know I'm not too organized).

This may be a stupid question BUT....

Do these type of plactic bags contains anything (like PVC, etc.) that would not be good for the coins

Thanks

Geod

Since PVC is dangerous, no food product will have it--the FDA wouldn't allow it.

    Food storage bags are polyethylene.

...and, polyethylene has been known to leave it's own peculiar residue (not PVC), that is particularly troublesome on clad coins.

Things like zip-lock bags I know for sure do not put residue on coins seeing as many people who have stored coins for decades in similer bags have sold them to the coin shop I used to work at and we never had a problem with a residue from a polyethylene bag (even on clad coins)

Numerous people have had trouble with polyethylene "haze" on coins - especially proofs. This seems to be made worse by exposure to heat. Even PCGS and NGC do not recommend the use of polyethylene bags for a first-level of coin protection (inserted in flips for submission) as they once did.
