Opinions on this 38 d/s Buffalo

Would they grade this or bag it? The color of the coin is stunning, so I had to make a bid. Bought it from a local bid-board and there were several bids, so apparently the nick wasn't too overwhelming for some. $68.

They called it "gem BU", which I immediately discounted when I saw the nick, but I'm terrible at grading Buffalos.

Thanks, coinbuf - I'm rather fond of it too. The nick just gives it character...

I'd give it 70% odds of getting bagged--that's an obvious and huge mark. If it did get through, MS61 would probably be the net grade.

Hmmm, I guess it's destined to live out it's days in a cardboard 2x2.

Send it to me, I'll give a good home in a comfy album. Those 2X2's can be so draftyimage

The rim ding is serious but the coin has overall great surfaces and character. I'd say it's likely to be slabbed but downgraded appropriately. This is a coin that would look fantastic in an album or a nice Capital Plastics set. Always good to have a great eye-appealing piece in such a set. I thinnk you did well @ $68 and I probably would have bid higher had I the chance. image

Amen, Brotha - that's the plan. Eventually when I have more than a handful of Buffs they'll get a Dansco.
