I'm thinking about cracking this Seated dime out...

I picked this dime up a few weeks ago because of its eye appeal. When I received the coin, it actually looked better than I expected. I'm even thinking about cracking it out and sending it in to see if it will upgrade.
Tell me what you think about it and what you feel the grade is.

Sweet-lookin' piece, whatever the grade!
Edited to say - Agree with LM - if that's rub in the middle or on the bow, forget it and leave it as AU58
NOTE: No trees were killed in the sending of this message. However, a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

Ie., the 1887 P Seated Dime seems to always have Miss Liberty's head softly struck.
2) Is it my imagination, or do I detect wear on Miss Liberty's rt. leg, above the knee?
3) There appears to be wear on the two highest bunches of leaves in the wreath on the viewer's lt.
side of the coin. Note the lack of detail.
4) What is the darkened area to the lt. of the D im Dime paralleling the left portion of the wreath? Is this just unattractive toning, or may it be worse?
5) The knot of the bow on the bottom of the wreath shows wear.
6) Miss Liberty's lt. breast (as the viewer sees it) shows wear.
7) While the rust colored area on stars 1 & 2 appears to be toning related, a similar colored area around star 13 comes out of nowhere & I cannot tell if it's toning or worse.
In summary, you have an AU coin at best. If you crack it out and the toning areas I mentioned look funky, you may be looking at a body bag.

If it's rub, it's a VERY choice AU-58 and worth a premium over the current Trends/Greysheet price; if there are nicks and stuff behind the toning, it's probably MS-62 or -63 (leaning toward 63).

Thanks for offering your views. I think most of the items you pointed out are due more to a bad photo than anything else. Its a little fuzzy and doesn't show the full detail and toning of the coin.
2) could be slight wear above the knee.I need to look at a nice example of another Seated dime to compare.
3)There is no wear on the highest leaves. The photo is blurring out the detail. All leaves of wreath are equally struck showing no wear.
4)Darkened area left of dime is just toning. Same coloring as around stars on obverse, just a little lighter, its also under the E and around the A in America
5)not sure about the bow.It has more detail than the photo shows.I need to look at another example to determine.
6)Possibly very light wear on the brest
7)The toning around the stars actually extends around the entire coin with exception of just left of date. The toning is just darkest around stars 1,2,9 and 13 but it is connected by same toning shade just not as pronounced.
The coin is in a old NGC holder with a MS grade. I guess I need to check out some other MS examples before cracking this one out.
Thanks

I believe you just gave yourself the best advice you could give yourself.
The coin has lots of eye appeal. I'd do some more homework before cracking out a toned coin, especially if sending it to PCGS. Some specific dates are weakly struck in certain spots (ie., stars & dentils are softly struck on 1855 Large & Half Cents) and in these cases, you shouldn't get dinged for this in the grading room. Based on my recent experience, I would not try to cross an NGC coin in holder to PCGS at this time.

1... ask yourself, do you really like the coin? no, i mean really REALLY like it? answer the question HONESTLY
2... if the answer to #1 is yes, crack it out, & enjoy the coin for what it is, a COIN, not a chunk of plastic w/ a coin IN it.
3... if the answer is no, dump the coin, & focus on coins that you can answer "yes" to in step #1
you will NEVER EVER go wrong w/ this approach, NEVER!!! i have not once regretted this philosophy.

now, aren't you glad you asked?
