New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

He/she did not pay for the one he/she won from me. I just looked up history in process of filing for a fee refund.

Wow. Last week I spent over $3,000 on eBay in about 72 hours; a personal record I don't plan to duplicate any time soon. But I least I paid for mine and received mine. And oh, yeah, I had to promise my wife I'd sell some other stuff to at least partially raise money for it! image

  • Hi,

This totally SUCKS!!! This bonehead just created an account and bid on a lot of high end auctions, he's not going to pay but, the sellers will, in Ebay fees.

I had to relist 6 out of my last 51 auctions due to dead beat bidders, it is such a pain in the ass, of course this wasn't thousands of dollars but... Ebay makes you fillout a non paying report, after two invoices are sent, then you have to wait 7days but not more than 45 before you can request a credit... then, do they actually give you your money back? it's hard to say, they will not give you an invoice so, you really can't be sure.

    Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.... dead beat bidders!

The worst is when someone bids at the end of the month when ebay settles accounts.
Then your credit card is charged the fees.
By the time you get the credit it is too late for the charge on your credit card. Ebay will then credit your ebay account. I don't think they will credit your credit card?

Does any one know for sure what would happen?

08HALA20, you are correct. In that case, the credit goes to your eBay account rather than your credit card. That is what happened in my case since I was a bit slow in filing for the credit. My credit came to $70.12 on the one coin I sold him. Ebay's seller's fees on all the auctions he won totaled around $2500. I wonder how many actually filed for their credit?

There was a similar thing last month, only the buyer was using bogus certified checks. My dealer would have been burned as the check looked very good, but they were notified by ebay about the person. They got saved on the deal. This is one time Ebay actually came through.

  • I'd guess he's looking for someone to ship before the bogus check clears, or something like that.
