Coin World July 12, 2004 Issue: Contest Winners!

BaleyBaley Posts: 22,660 ✭✭✭✭✭
I am in need of a couple copies of the July 12th issue of Coin World for friends and family, so here's a little contest for you subscribers who usually toss out your paper, take a minute and you WILL win a coin, maybe top prize! Here's how:

1. Send a copy of the paper to me. Include your your CU forum screen ID and return address.

2. The copy received by July 17th (contest end) that "grades" highest on the standard 1-70 scale as "top pop" (in mint or near-mint condition) will win first prize, a Morgan or Peace Dollar (winner's choice)

3. The copy in second place in "condition" wins second prize, a Franklin or Kennedy half (choice)

4. Every other paper (or even just the neatly cut-out cover article about the 1807 O.115 half dollar) received at above address by July 17th will receive a Thank You note and a small coin prize of my choice, probably worth a couple of dollars, as well as TWO (2) entries in drawing below.

5. Each person who replies to this post will get ONE (1) entry into the drawing, to be held July 17th or shortly thereafter. First prize in the drawing will be the Morgan or Peace dollar not chosen by the winner of the newspaper condition contest, second prize will be the Frankie or Kennedy not chosen by the second place finisher. Limit one entry per person via posting to this thread. Limit two entries by mail (those who both mail and post will get three entries)

edit: 6. Here are pictures of the prizes, Good Luck!

Oh, I just picked that up at the P.O. yesterday. I'll reserve it for you, luckily enough it didn't get mangled in the P.O. Box over the holiday weekend.

My postal carrier put his grimmy little fingerprints all over mine. I'm gonna put it in a potato to see if I can get it to tone nicely. If it works out, I'll send it to you. image

Thank you to those who sent the paper, 6 copies were received.

First prize goes to MrSpud for this MS69 example, an essentially perfect paper with only very minor cover roughness, no printed address, sent secured between 2 stiff pieces of cardboard, with another outer box, and mailed priority on July 10th.

This is the copy that I will save for posterity, thanks MrSpud and please choose your prize!

edit: MrSpud chooses the Morgan! Congrats Tim!

Congratulations seanq for your second place entry, nicely centered MS68 paper, clean and unfolded but for a minor corner fold near the address printing (address covered with a paper square in the photo), mailed between 2 pieces of stiff cardboard, in a padded outer bag:

Wow, I won, thanks! I'm honored to know that my copy will be saved for posterity. Now if only some of my coins were 69s....

PM sent. It was a true stroke of luck that the paper survived my P.O. Box in that condition. I picked up the July 19 issue before the weekend and it graded BR-4 (Barely Readable).
