I just got back from the Colorado Springs Coin show which is held the weekend between the two ANA summer seminar sessions. it has about 50 dealers or so and is held downtown. The place was packed and dealers from local colorado and other states were here also since some come to the seminar and sell between teaching or taking classes.
During the three hours I was there I saw alot of coins being sold but not many key dates coins at all. One dealer came in with 22 key date coins in vaious series (slabbed) and had 19 of the 22 sold within a half hour to the dealers. They were buying and paying strong prices. The same old generic morgans and lower grade type were everywhere and prices were even higher than normal compared to a few weeks ago at Long beach (at least to me). People were still buying though!
I bought one coin: a 1966 SMS jefferson nickel in MS-67 for $0.50 in a box. It has awesome luster and was a real steal!

I dunno... I didn't see em... *shrug* Of course, they may have been back over by PCI, and I didn't go over there, cause PCI was just kinda way in the back away from everyone...

What's it like at a pci booth at a show?? Do people largely ignore them? Do people stop and talk, or just point and giggle??

I'd bring a few of their coins to them, cover the labels, and have them explain the grades--preferably "DCAMS"
...then I'd point and laugh
I was there at 10:30 and got in early but had to wait for the dealers to get the bussiness done.
I met ray with howards coins. check there adds in coin world. he had some very expensive coins.
to my surprise one of the local dealers bought um lets say 20k from him. thats high but don't want to give away trade secrets.
most transactions were from dealers . saw tom hollenbeck was doing well with gold and mint products.hi tom,
I took 100 very hard to find lincolns 34-90 in 67rd/68rd. no one was interested in them. they had no idea what to pay for them.
there were no lincolns at the show to by, and seated material was nonexistant. I ended up buying a nice 77cc half and a nice 69half.
as Cameron said you could buy a boat load of morgans. they were everywere.
rob.

Don't forget to hold up the sign that says "I'm Single".
Glad you found something at the show.
