    Buying coins is a hit or miss proposition for me.

    I've decided to only focus on a couple of coins that I need. Therefore, if they ain't available, I don't buy. It really has more to do with the tides -- of availability -- than anything else.

    When I have money available and there are coins I need available too. If either one of those is missing I don't buy much. If neither is available then I buy very little.

    I find myself buying coins whether I have money or not .... and even when I should NOT be buying coins! But I guess, all of the above would apply to me.

    1) I must have the funds available AND
    2) The coin must be something that interests me

    My mood has nothing to do with it. I've walked out of coin shows with plenty of money available to spend on coins because I didn't see anything that interested me. I've also passed on coins I wanted because the funds were not available at the time, and I don't believe in getting terms / doing layaways to pay for coins.
