Your most cherished coin and why

Can I get y'all to post a description, fotos are nice, of your collection's most cherished coin. The one you will NOT sell/trade. The one you hold most dear, for any reason, worth, sentimental, et al. With the reason why you hold it as the most cherished. For me its:

I have the gold coin fever. I bought her around 1965, (for $50), mail order, advertised as BU. My first gold purchase. Had been collecting coins from pocket change, got the gold coin fever. Kept her ever since, guess she'll go to one of the kids, with the story, as well as the rest of the collection. She's been around with me since and will continue to be with me. Cherished as my first gold coin. Was also the first coin I ever purchased!

Still have the gold coin fever, but gold is too volitile now, so on the gold coin 'sidelines'. Collection money going into bust halfs, large cents, morgans, 20th century 'moderns'.

And I consider the Lib double eagle to be the most attractive US coin, IMHO.

    Too many to choose from.

Anything left to me by my father.

I got him into collecting in the late 60s early 70s and he rekindled my interest in the 80s.

The in mid 90s when he died, he left me a rather nice collection of early commems and type stuff.

There is really no one coin I own that I cherish, or cherish more than any other.

Some were given to me by my dad when I was young and some given by my grandparents or my wife's grandparents. They hold special meaning but I don't wax poetic over the coins. They remind me of people and of simpler times as a child getting into coin collecting. Its the people who gave me the coins that I cherish.
Always looking for attractive rim toned Morgan and Peace dollars in PCGS or (older) ANA/ANACS holders!

1859 IHC. Many, many years ago (when I was 23... no, no, kidding), before I was even thought of (Halloween, 1976), my grandmothers house burnt. The house was so hot, the fire department couldnt cross the swinging bridge (mind you, the bridge was a good 300 or plus feet away) to get to the house. After it burnt, one of my uncles went at it with a metal detector. So far, this is the ONLY coin I know of that "survived" the blaze. So, as far as I can tell, it would've belonged to my great grandfather, my grandfather/mother, one of my uncles then to my dad, then to me. It's also the only 1859 cent I have, too.

Another thing I have that I won't get rid of is an old straight razor (GEORGE WOSTENHOLM & SON, I·XL, first made in 1847 (for the one I have), belonged to my Great Great Great Grandfather (MAYBE 4th great Grandfather). Have the razor, and the origonal box to it. I can post pics of it later.

This coin got me hooked on early American coinage. I just taken by the beauty and the detail on the piece. Since purchasing this coin in the early 1970s I've purchased many sisters to go along with her, but she still has the most sentimental value.

She is currently residing in a PCGS AU-58 holder. I've seen equal pieces in MS-62 holders from both NGC and PCGS.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Mine...is a SLQ...with no date. Almost looks like a blank planchet. My grandfather gave me that coin when I was six, and have been collecting ever since.

I've posted this story before, so forgive me if you've already read it.

Mine is a 1909-S VDB cent left to me by my grandpa. It was his numismatic quest to find one. As long as I can remember, he wanted one, but only from circulation (he didn't have the money to purchase one). He died thinking he had never found it. Several months back, PCGS ran free grading on 100th anniversary coins. I sent in what I thought was a 1909-S from my grandpa's Whitman coin folder. When it came back, it was slabbed as a VG10 1909-S VDB. I grabbed my loupe, and sure enough there was a faint VDB hiding on it! The combination of it coming from my grandpa, and the great story behind it, and the demand for this date make this, by far, my favorite coin in my collection.

As for the coin that I own that I cherish the most... would be this pretty Album toned Merc that was given to me by Woodie image And it has become my favorite coin in my whole collection.
