I dunno much about gold, but fom the pics it looks like someone polished the daylights out of that one. Look at the obverse fields at K-7 and K-10, and the reverse fields from K-3 to K-6. Add (1) PCI Gold slab and (2) private auction to the mix and I'd lay better odds on it being an impaired counterfeit than a proof. Not that I'm saying it is ether, as I said I don't know gold at all, just basing this opinion on the circumstantial evidence.

Might not be. It could be tooled, recolored, counterfeit, ex-jewelry, rim filed, puttied or lazered, though.
