A simple suggestion for the Ebay/ANA partnership.

For single coins, REQUIRE a picture of the actual item being sold. Provide TWO free pictures for each coin listing, and REQUIRE a picture of the obverse and reverse of the coin that meet a minimum standard with regards to size and border size.

I'm not sure how much good this would do, and as a seller I certainly would not like eBay dictating how I do my images. At some point, the buyers have some responsibility to bid smart. As a buyer, I never bid on a coin without images of both sides of the coin.

That'd be a great step 2, Don. I think step 1 is to actually set a start date for doing something. Sometimes it seems locked in committee.
  • Hi,

Not allowing stock photos, and forcing both the obverse and reverse is a good idea but…

The retaliatory negative threat is the single biggest tool the scam auctioneer has at their disposal.

Slamming the bidder, who leaves negative feedback, with MASSIVE retaliatory negative simply sucks.

Then if you look at the scam sellers feedback, we all know who we’re talking about, you’ll see multiple “mutually withdrawn” feedbacks. This not only allows the scam seller to manipulate their own feedback but seriously hurts the bidder.

Ebay should INVESTIGATE negative feedbacks when they mention the word "counterfeits", not simply allow the seller to overwhelmingly slam the bidder into submission with statements like “BLOCK HIS BIDS, SUCKS, EVIL, BLACK DEATH” etc, etc.

    Just my too cents.

    Anthony
