I remember Leo at last years registry luncheon. I also remember the original owner (and builder) of one of his number 1 sets saying he bought it on the condition that he had PCGS remove the his record entirely from the all time list. A true "winner".

  • I bought a #1 set?

You mean I bought out everyone that had a chance to compete with me.

I only bought 1 MS-70 POP 1 coin for my #1 set, and that was it a 10th ounce for 20k.

The other 16 now 17 sets I made myself.

Gosh I love the spin on this one, let's get this thread to over 100, seems like every time I post something the thread goes past 100 image

Sounds like it is time to sell my pop1 ms $100 plat to Mr./Master Plat, so he can really claim #1 in all plats. I'll let the forum decide just how much I should charge (above $20k). The one who garners the most money, when sold, gets a nice commission. I'll leave the negotiations up to whomever would like to be my agent. Just tell where to send the coins (I'll only sell the full set, even if someone just wants the pop.1) and the commission.
  • Ask Bill I paid him 25k to buy an MS- 69 set that had (1) one MS-70 $10 pop 1

The only way to get that coin is to buy 25k worth of junk 69's

I love the way people spin things.

I already had the #1 spot in all denominations in order to avoid a tie break in the $10 MS which I owned all of the top 5 award winning sets was to do what I did.

Bill did me no favors, we agreed to a price and I paid the price to earn my awards.

Besides did Bill make the coin NO CameoCC offered me the coin first I passed, my kid threw a fit, I bought it from Bill end of story...
  • That was last year, this year I did not care you can only win best new set one time.

I've put my efforts in other coins, frankly if I cant make the grade myself from this point on it's not worth my time.

Dont you think Mitch offered me that coin at about $6500, I told Mitch nice coin, but my set is retired, if someone wants to take the #1 spot so be it, I've had the pleasure of owning the very first $100 in both MS and PR (70) made.

That is good enough for me, also I have many coins that are not registered, what for?

Also Mitch offered me the entire POP of the 2003 $100 that Tulving made, I also passed, and the POP 32 $25 1998 in (70)

Besides how many awards did my platinum coins win? last count was 35? but who cares right?

ps. who cares about 2003s? image

"Dont you think Mitch offered me that coin at about $6500"

Leo: You might be confusing that coin with 03 Plat. The 1998 $100 Platinum which Registrycoin refers to was initially listed on ebay by me for around $11,000 (perhaps a tad more) as I recall before a deal was made on the coin.

  • One more thing about the Platinum coins, eventually all coins will be 70's the way PCGS is popping 70's it'll only be a matter of time.

Why spend 10's of thousands of $ on one coin, when I can take that money buy the raw coins, and make about 10-15% return on my money, and if 1 hits a 70 then that's a free coin for my set.

The next person that does what I did last year wont have the satisfaction I did, I did my sets when PCGS was tight on "giving" out 70's

I've bought a couple of high pop 70's they do not compare to the 70's of 2 years ago.

I'm sure I'll get some heat by saying that, but hey I have the coins to show that the 70's made in 2001 and 2002 are far superior than the coins of (May 2003) through (June 2004)

Even if I do not make a dime on my sets when it comes time to sell it's all fine and dandy, my kid will have a legacy for many generations to come.

All my coins have a special flag holder and my kid's name in the holder.

    That's good enough for me...

Generations from now someone might hold one of my platinum coins and say?

Who was this Leonardo Garcia, hopefully someone will say hey wasn't that the Platinum Pimp.... image
  • Mitch your customer called me a few times while I was on my fishing trip in Texas, he wanted to either trade buy my coins or maybe even sell me his.

I told him you're a great guy maybe you'll get lucky and have Haness make you some more.

I refuse to break up my kid's collection at any price, but would entertain a complete buy out, meaning my entire 17 sets, and the over 200 MS-69 1998 $10's which I personally made.

Leo: Good luck with any potential sale of your entire collection. You have some wonderful platinum coins and, it is no secret that I like the series (see my other thread). I am especially partial to the MS coins. From my personal experience, it is extremely difficult to locate coins without serious problems. I had the recent privilege to examine around 700 PCGS-MS69 $100 coins. That was certainly an awakening for me personally to assess the quality of the typical MS69 coin and what it takes to have a shot to go MS70.

  • 700 x $995 per coin when you looked them these people do not seem to understand just to have a shot at a 70 in Platinum some people including myself have spent 100's of thousands and in a few cases a couple of guy's have spent millions only to get back 69 or lower graded coins.

But people do not see this, they continue to bash the series and myself for trying to keep the platinum series going.

Mitch how does it feel buddy?

I've been dealing with this bottom feeder crap for almost 3 years now...

Thankfully for me my platinum bullion position has doubled in the last 18 months that's over 5000 ounces and counting.

Wow, as I have been told by many in PMs, I know little about this very complicated situation. Upon a rethink, my coins are kinda special to me. Perhaps I should be asking for a price on Mr. Plats' $100 ms pop1. That may be more fair. It wasn't my intention to ripple the waters, but I did chuck a couple of pennies in just to make a wish. I'd like to be number one, if possible, in the King of Plats, ms $100, but... image
  • The King of All Plats. is my entire set (s)

Someone please buy me out so I can retire.

I have about 18,000 or so PCGS slabs. There must be someone with very deep pockets that wants me gone.

Until that time come's I'll continue to plug away....

I don't know much about Pf Kennedys, but it seems to me that each and every reg. set, is gaining some prominence, at least recognition, and even if poo-poo'd, you never know... It could be the most fun series to collect, as with the great comraderie of the Mercs. the Roosies, the Jeffs, the Wash. qtrs. collectors, as well as other series that have brought out the best in our personalities.

Should this thread even be on this board? What has the selling of these coins by Platinum have to do with Registry coin sets? Is this board now to be used for someones personal point of sale? Not to mention the gutter talk that shows through, no matter how you try to hide it among the rest of the bad mouthing. I think this needs to be brought before The MAN at the next question and answer session. After all there are some young collectors that visit here. Or maybe they are no longer allowed after their parents read some of this junk.
