Looks good. How about an "about me" section? I always like it when a website has that.

Make the coin and logo stand out more in the upper left. too monochromatic.

You do such great work with images. Why not show more coins on your homepage?image

<< <i>You do such great work with images. Why not show more coins on your homepage?image >>

"See Our Work" image I was going for a non-cluttered homepage... there could potentially be another image within the text area. Remember, the border will be on every page.

    << <i>Who is the "our?" >>

    Sounds more professional image

  • Nice design - however I agree - your work is 'hiding'. You could possibly change the text to another color to make it stand out more ...... possibly aquamarine?

On your logo and coins ....... they also need to stand out more ..... kind of like the main course (just from a graphic designer's input).
Your name/your logo is of UTMOST importance - make it unforgettable!

    great job!

    I beefed up the brightness/contrast a bit--like this better?

I agree, classy, but maybe a little to monochomatic ... a couple of colorful coins on the front cover page might be in order ... hope this goes well for you image

I love the design and warm feel of that layout Jeremy.
  • Personally, I would add a stroke to the letters to make them more bold and noticable. I would keep our btw, looks more proffesional IMO, makes you look bigger. Otherwise the site looks pretty good.

Any other suggestions on coins to use up there? Toned, untoned?

    Thanks!

The top one makes it hard to read your logo. I like the bottom one. It's easier to read and your logo stands out more. Your logo needs to be just a bit bigger. ....for whatever my opinion is worth.

  • That "first" one looks good too .... adds a little color ...

    show your wings! (increase contrast)

I like the second with the gold coin and the fourth one with the tone but if I had to choose between the two I would go with the gold. I think when the make the logo bigger it it is kind of distracting. The smaller logo is alot classier IMHO.image

  • I like the toned and untoned coin logo the best and the copper/brownish area looks very classy. I don't like the page fade to black as much but it is obvious that you have more design talent that I do!

Looks dern cool, Jeremy! However, you might want to lend some brightness to the page. it appears a tad bit too dark.image

Very nice. I would change the font. The "J" in JK Photography could be mistaken for an "F."

okay Jeremy, here is my 2-center worth, on the link for "See My Work" just shorten it to "My Work" anyone going to a webpage will see that is a link to examples of your work, of course they are going to see it. Sounds more confident in saying "My Work" as a presentation rather than "See My Work" which sounds like a request. JMHO, dude...otherwise, GREAT LAYOUT!! image

    Jeremy,

Very nice layout and I also like the "warm" (as someone else pointed out) feeling the site gives with the first impression. You've got it going on !! Good job !!

First class layout, first class guy behind the layout. Best of luck.

I know you will do well.

  • Day late and a $1.98 short but.....

Links on left side need font color with more contrast against background color.
Thin stroke style font isn't very easy too read.
You might also provide alternative text for your images and image map hotspots.

You may find that many older folks may have difficulty with reading your site because of those issues.
Also, try googling "w3c" and "section 508".....you'll get a lot of info on universal website design and links to free online checkers for ADA compliance.

As I already mentioned, I like the warm colors you chose Jeremy. My only minor suggestion would be making the text in "Welcome to JK..." white, and condense it a touch so it doesn't come so close to the coin. I really like how you let the coin be the only vibrant color on the page, which makes it catch our eye. Let your great photos provide the punch and keep everything else neutral -- either white, black or earth tones.
  • mgoodm3mgoodm3 Posts: 17,497 ✭✭✭
The last one looks the best so far. Bigger coins and logo are nice. The contrast of the coin colors to the rest of the color scheme makes them stand out nicely. Draws your eye to your logo better. I like the light colored lettering on the logo the best, compared to black. Looks goodimage

Because everyone sees things differently--when I have a few people say the same thing, I go back and notice something I hadn't seen... that's why I am never the sole editor of any essay I write for school.
