Morgan Question for Dealers

I realize this might be a bit too general in nature, but here it goes... How long do you typically have to keep PCGS slabbed Morgans in your inventory? I was just trying to get a feel if you are sometimes unwilling to buy a middle of the road PCGS slabbed Morgan because you will have a hard time unloading it.

A really nice specimen if not sent to someone because it's on their want list, generally lasts about a day to a couple of days.

  • Hi,

It depends on what I paid for it.

If I paid red-book value for MS60’s in PCGS holders, they will fly like fried chicken at a weight watchers convention. However; if you pay the PCGS price right now, you may have to wait a while before the price goes up.

Note exactly comparing apples to apples but…
Sometimes the prices climb really fast… I brought four and sold three Carson City GSA Morgans for around $130 in January this year, with the NCG sticker, and resold them on EBay for $150 and more the same month. Now, those coins are selling for $175 to $250… the common non-stickered (non-graded) GSA’s sell for $150 and up.

Back to your PCGS question… if you can pickup rainbowed morgans for the grey sheet price… you can resell them the same day for a huge profit… rainbow toned morgans are beyond hot right now.

    Anthony
