That is a bill introduced to create a Teddy Roosevelt Comm. coin. 500K with a Rough Rider obverse and 500K with an adventurer design. It is suggested the Rough Rider design be based on J.E. Fraser's 1920 medal bearing Roosevelt's image. The reverse would adopt Augustus Saint Gaudens double eagle reverse design with motto. The adventurers reverse would call for a Fraser design, the one used on the Roosevelt Mem. Assoc. Medal of Honor as well as the Founders medal, both showing a crusader's flaming "sword of rightousness" along with the words of Roosevelt "If I must choose between rightousness and peace, I choose rightousness". This bill has gone before the Senate floor in May but as of June 15th had no co-sponsors. This information from Num. News.
Now back to my question, how big do you think this one would be. I personally think it would be more popular than the Buff and Lewis and Clark.

I don't think a combined mintage of 1 million will sell out. Commems have not sold at that level since the mid 1990s. The mint has recently continued the alienation of collectors by raising prices. The lack of a sell out will not be solely due to the coin itself. The reduced sales today are result of collectors attitudes towards the mint. Unless, of course, they surprise us with something special creating enhanced value like so many of us anticipated (now disappointed) with the L&C Coin and Currency Set.
nickel was so popular. I think people that are familiar with, and like Frasers artwork might buy it, people that collect
commems to have a complete set will buy them and dealers will buy them. There will also be a handful of people
that just happen to order a commem and that the one they order. I don't see it being an instant sellout.
I hope I'm wrong though.

I'm not looking to profit by any of these. If I buy one or more I keep them. But, I don't want to buy anything that is not going to increase in value either. I personally think this will be a good issue even though there isn't even a preliminary design to look at yet, judging by the description only.
PS- you can bet if ol' Teddy was around today, he'd be kickin' some terrorist butt!
<< <i>I'll tell you one thing for sure. If they charge $90 for it, I won't be buying one. The price of the L&C set, considering the plain-jane nickels, stamps, and repro note is obscene. >>
I wondered if the mint was testing collectors to see if there was a limit on how much they would go for. I know I thought more than twice about the price.
As for increase in value they maybe some, and it may sell out, but no where near as fast
as some of the more popular issues. My buffalo auction actually garnered interest from
boardmembers and ebay viewers who not only wanted the one up for sale, but the
other 10 Im still sitting on (which arnt forsale
