Could someone shed a little light on the "P" mint mark Morgans?

I wanted some more info. What I was more curious on if I am correct in assuming that the "P" mark is for the philidelphia mint? And even more curious as to the prices I've seen for them..particularly on ebay..$30 and up. Is it not that sought after Morgan sliver dollar?

The Philly minted Morgans have no mint mark at all. The P mint mark didn't appear as a regular feature until around 1982 or so. It was used on war nickels, but other than that coins from Philly were minted without it.

Morgan dollars from Phillidelphia have no mint mark. Price is all dependant on grade. Certified common dates in MS63 have been going for around $35, MS64s around $45-$50, and MS65s are usually up around $120, for common dates.

    WELCOME ABOARD!!
P mint Morgans are indeed desireable. 79 80 81 82 start to get pricey at ms65. 88 89 at ms66. The 93 is the most affordable for that year if yer doin a date set and a nice 1893 in PCGS 63 will tear the hell out of a $1000 bill. The 1904 is tough to find nice in ms64 or better and aint cheap either.

Generally most Philadelphia mint Morgan dollars are moderately priced in MS-63 and 64 condition although there are some exceptions. The 1901-P is real rarity in strict Mint State, especially when it has some eye appeal. In the circulated grades it does not amount to much. The 1895 has been viewed as "The king of the Morgan dollars" because the coin is known only in Proof or impaired Proof and sells for a 5-figure number.

Overall the general quality of P-mint Morgans falls in the middle. Many of them were produced in an attractive manner as opposed to many of the New Orleans (O-mint) coins which were often poorly struck. Conversersely few P-mint Morgans are as nice as the pices that came out of the San Francisco mint during the period from 1878 to 1882.

I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
