1921 Peace Dollar question

Are all 1921 Peace dollars made in high relief? I have noticed that PCGS gives that designation on the slab but NGC does not. I have a couple in NGC MS-63 that I purchased a couple years ago and was wondering what they are worth today. I think I paid around $250 each for them.

Placid, what do you mean here? I thought the PROOF 1921 (Peace) was high releif too?
  • Placid is wrong. NO 1921 peace dollars were in low relief.

Considering that all 1921 Peace dollars are high relief, designated them as such seems redundent doesn't it.

No really. I think the idea is to designate them as another type, like the Type I Buffalo nickel and Standing Liberty quarter. I don't think that it does any harm.

I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Yea, but in 1913 you had both Type 1 and Type 2 Buffalos thus you HAVE to designate them. You can't make an assumption based on the date alone. However, anyone who knows anything about Peace Dollars is aware that the 1921 is a high relief coin.

If the 1921 Peace dollar had both a High Relief and a Low Relief, then I wouldn't have a problem with this.

That is what I meant. Sorry if the post confused you.

They have been selling in the $250-$300 area.
