Well I *tried* to get those credit card logos off my auctions...

... but eBay and PayPal don't make it easy on you.
A while back there was a thread concerning the logo eBay automatically inserts in your auctions if you select PayPal as a payment option. I do not accept credit card payments, but by (unchangable) default the PayPal logo eBay uses has the credit cards in it, which implies that I do accept them.
At least half of my auction winners remit by PayPal before I can even send them an acknowledgement, so I'm very reluctant to deselect PayPal from the list of valid payments. I'm not thrilled with the prospect of giving out my PayPal account name in the payment terms of the listing, so I tried to post a link instead. I found a couple of logo images without the credit cards, but I can't make them point directly to my account. I also found a "smart logo" in PayPal's Auction Helper section, but I can't figure out how to redirect the code to show the generic logo and not the cards again.
So for now I've left my two disclaimers in my payment terms, placed the generic logo underneath the fine print in my main listing, and left PayPal as an automatic payment option. Frankly, I'd rather explain the credit card thing to the 3% of my bidders who try to use them, than explain how to find my PayPal account to the 50% of my bidders who currently manage to remit without incident. Not that I'm completely happy with the compromise.
Has any one else found a better solution to this problem? Or am I just manufacturing a "problem" for myself?

I've got it in my item description, payment terms, and state it again on the invoice I send. I've only had a couple of bidders try to use a credit card in the last six months or so. I read somewhere that it is actually in the PayPal user agreement that you can't use their logo unless you accept credit cards, but have not actually checked it out. As far as a solution, I have yet to come up with a better one.
"Exactly."
TayTay: The offending logo is at the bottom of the page unde the list of acceptible forms of payment. I'm not adding it, eBay is. If it is against PayPal policy to use it and not take CCs, then eBay and PayPal should give me the option of using the plain logo.

It doesn't matter what tell people... if you look at all my auctions... I have it written three times, including in bold-red-large-font, that we do not accept credit cards, if you want to use your pay pal account, it must be linked to your checking or savings account, not your credit card.
For every 10 pay pal transactions, I get at least two credit card attempts... you just have to take a deep breath, remain nice... and ask them to pay a different way.

I'm familiar with that. I had it in five different places, including giant red print across both the top and the bottom, and I still got people trying to pay by credit card. Not a problem anymore, though, since PayPal forced me to either upgrade my account or stop accepting payments through them.

<< <i>Is a Visa or M/C debit card charged out the same as a credit card! >>
Yes. For processing purposes, they are treated the same as credit cards.
