  • Hi,

Yes, that is a Phishing Scam.

Besides the obvious, such as Ebay will never ask you for your password, mothers maiden name, bank account number, first born, etc…

Here’s a tip… if you ever find you self at an Ebay or Pay Pal log in… and your not so sure it’s real (even when it really, really looks real) just type in some random characters... if you can get to the next page, the link is absolutely forged.

    For example

User Name: lkjsdljsdlkjsdlkds@dlfldfldlj.com (totally fake address)
Password: jsdfflsdalasdflasdflkjasdflkjasdflkj (just hit some random letters)
    Press Enter

If that just let you into your pay pal account, where you’re asked for everything from your birthday to your blood type… it’s forged.

  • Spoofster calls....I've received about 5 of them in different formats and everyone is a Phisher.
putting together a MS 60 and up Morgan set....60% complete...otlher 40% probably take the rest of the decade!
  • I recieved a spoof email earlier containing the following "It has come to our attention that your eBay billing updates are out of order. If you could please take 1-2 minutes out of your online experience and update your billing records you will not run into any future problems with the online service. However, failure to update your records will result in account termination. Please update your records."

Thanks for the tip, SirAnthonyAC, I tested it and sure enough, it works. image

    Do NOT do this...

Type nasty messages to the scammers, instead. It's more rewarding image

I just got that same email tonight- these guys need to find a real job... image
My style is impetuous, my defense is impregnable !
  • The one you received may be phony but,the one I received from e-bay was for real.It stated exactly what yours said.E-bay had called me about 3 times looking for information and trying to explain to me what happened. What you might want to do is get hold of e-bays security division and have them check yours out.I was shut down for 2 weeks and had to change some of my passwords and e-mail addresses.Ebay would not give me any information about how the scammers got my information,I guess they might be worried about who's the blame for the security breach. All I know is it wasn't me.Ebay suppose to be a secured site."is it really?"
