At least Fine details... netted a bit for a bump would go F or VG. Nice coin... totally original.

  • Hi,

My first guess was to grade your coin at Extra Fine 45… however; after reading the other opinions, I took a second look and tried to compare it to other PCGS graded coins.

Here's a PCGS VG8.... yours is beyond better:
    PCGS VG8

This PCGS Fine-15, on Ebay, has far less details as yours, and it’s a Fine-15, yours is far better, (assuming it’s really in a PCGS holder, the auction doesn’t’ show that.)

Here's a PCGS Extra Fine 45, your's has at least the same level of details, perhaps yours has more in the face of your coin, but this one has less black toning...
    Link PCGS EF 45

Honestly, I could be wrong but... judging by comparison... your coin should grade at EF 40... of course, this is just my opinion, your mileage may vary! image

  • SirAnthony,

I agree with your assesment, I think its an EF-40 myself. As always though, I always like to hear others' comments just in case they see something I am not seeing even though its only through a picture. The best thing about this coin IMO is that it is totally original.

Thanks for posting the comparison links.

I tend to look at the wear on the eagles wings and claws as a judge on these first. Then I look at the obverse.

VF35 details, net F15, rim nicks.

I'm no expert but I'll call it net-f15. Rim bumps keep it from vf but I think
    the detail is there.
