Is this another phony PCGS slab?

Another phony??

Uh-oh...not again!? The seller of this item wouldn't show the back except on request. If this link works and you think this is a phony Mr. Sherman, I know the buyer. He's sorta new at this and wouldn't know the difference!

  • It looks real to me but the main way to tell is by the back of the slab label. There are tons of these first generation slabs PCGS still out there so I hope everyone doesn't start saying they are fake.

Wow, Cam...I just realized I still have one right here. Where are those pix to compare, again?

He probably doesn't show the reverse because he doesn't want to pay for the second picture...

Why do people think it's not a fake just because the cert number comes back real? If you're a counterfeiter, you're going to try to make it as close to real correct? That would include the cert number. So you take a real slab, and then you get a (or several) coins of the same date and general grade and then copy the label exactly. Grade, date, denom, cert number.

The counterfeiter used real cert numbers. It's highly doubtful this one is a fake, though. The crook probably didn't waste his time with Washington quarters.

From what I understand most if not all of the fake slabs were high end dollars or gold.
