I Have Arrived!

Wow, I never thought I'd make it. New to the forums and just wanted to say, "Hello!", to all out there. Spent some time lurking trying to find a place to give, learn, and get yelled at (hopefully not too much). Oh, and buy. Live in Heaven, we just call it Montana, some of you will make it here some day. Not too many coin stores around, in fact we only have one. Great place, great owner but sometimes when you're looking for that something special I have to turn to Ebay, and as many of you know, if it's not encapsulated you get 'whatever' alot of times. Name's Rick. Got started collecting when I was a youngin'. Wierd story actually. An older gentleman who lived down by the creek we swam at when we were kids died when his house burnt. He was a hoarder. My brothers and sisters drug me along when I was about five or six to go pick up the coins everywhere in the burnt debris. I came away with a small coffee can full. My brothers and sisters spent all theirs, but me, I was fascinated by it. It was like finding buried treasure. I took some gas and cleaned them up a bit (yeah go ahead and say it). This started things off. My first merit badge as a scout was the coin collecting merit badge. My maternal grandfather, great grandfather, and the clear back to greatx3 were all prospectors. My family were the caretakers of "The Robbers Roost" just north of Virginia City from the 20's up to just a few years ago when my uncle passed away. That's why I think it's in my blood. My wife just says I have adult ADHDimage After I entered the service I just never kept it up. If I picked something up in loose change I stuff if away but it wasn't until after marriage and kids did the spark come back. Due mostly to my mother who, at her age, wanted to clean up the house and gave me back some of the coins I had collected as a kid. A convict brother got away with most while I was away in the service which really grates on me when I ponder the thought. So here I am today. I've been back into the thick of things for about four years. I collect most anything nice and reasonably priced. Morgans are my favorite though, but hey, a nice proof V nickel makes me drool (don't have one yet, but as Wayne, in Wayne's World said to Garth, "Yes, it will be mine!"). My six year old will hopefully carry the torch. Bought him a '97 Mint Set and AE Proof for his b-day since it was his birth year (afterwards I was wishing he would have been born on a cheaper year) hoping he'd say thanks and give it back but no deal. He comes to the local shop and picks out something every now and then. So I guess that's enough intro...didn't mean to get so long winded but I just wanted to say, "Hi."
Prost!

Why step over the dollar to get to the cent? Because it's a 55DDO.
