You need a larger and lighter image for me to comment. These coins have lots of detail. I just bought one of these in 5 RB & need a 5 power glass before I consider making a purchase.

MS64, but its hard to tell from the small photo. Looks like a pretty good strike.

    I'll take a crack at 63 RB
What is money, in reality, but dirty pieces of paper and metal upon which privilege is stamped?

If the coin has glistening BN luster, it could go 5 BN. W/o glistening luster, in the past, PCGS would not put such a coin in a 5 holder.

  • Thanks for the replies, I bought this graded as AU-50. Hoping for an upgrade.

You need to look at the coin with a glass. Look at the top leaves on the wreath. Are they "all there?" There will be gaps in leaf detail on an AU coin. Also, look at the bow; are all of the details there? They won't be on an AU coin.

The strike looks better than most for that date. Look at the curls on the obverse. An AU coin will show some wear. Look for luster breaks that may not have shown up on the image.

So much for grading from poor photos.

It goes to prove how dangerous grading from photos can be.
