PCGS VF-25 (if they grade it)

Color looks fantastic, if original, a very nice coin. PCGS will grade it VF-30 easily. They are very generous on these coins. So many had a hard life, but this one seems to have escaped the ravages of time.

I graded it 30 and bought it as an upgrade. I won't be sending it to PCGS until it's time to upgrade again. I'm not sure if they would forgive the scratches near the "ONE" though. I did.

very nice snipe! was watching that one, love the smooth surfaces (so many of these are porous)

    Looks Very Fine from here.

Actually the snipe looks good on paper, with only 1 second left, but there were 5 bidders in the last 25 seconds and my first snipe came back saying it was too low. I bumped it up $10 and just made it under the wire.image

VF sharpness, mildly grandular, has probably been cleaned and retoned.

PGGS and NGC won't grade it, but don't feel badly. They won't grade grade my coin either, and it came from the Ruby Collection. If the grading services were as hard on silver and gold that has been played with as they are on copper, most of those coins would be in body bags and not holders. Copper coin grading is very political.

This type is very hard to find this sharp, especially in this market. Here's my coin, which was a two time loser. Today it's in an ANACS AU-50 holder, where from market grade prospective it belongs.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
