Boyer Endeavors?

Any experience with BoyerEndeavors of MO? (ebay: boyerendeavorsllc)

Looking at his feedback with regard to packs, it is not exactly favorable, especially
if you go back to March to January 2004 (hey - what was that URL that would lookup only neutral
or negative feedbacks for an ebay seller?)

If he is as bad as the feedbacks suggest, perhaps he assumes that people buying old
packs (especially GAI encapsulated ones) aren't going to break open the packs
(and wonder why there's more wax on the card you first see upon opening, than on the card that's
been sitting against the gum?)

About 1.5 years ago I bought a 1984D wax box from them. Top packs from box were sealed correctly (ie. factory seal), but as I dug further into the box, I got the strong impression the packs seal had been tampered with.

Didn't protest because I was rather new to ebay and it's workings, but I guarantee you I would have handled that situation much differently today.

In short, I will never deal with them again, regardless of what they are selling. Don't chance it with these guys.

Vintage Pack Factory. Mr Boyer runs the thing.

He does offer refunds when you call him out, I think to keep the Negs to a minimum.

Also, I notice a guy, I think his name markssportscards, has been selling 76 Topps FB packs for 2 years. About 2 boxes worth, a pack at a time. Has been using the same picture the whole time. HMMMM

How these guys stick around is beyond me.

  • Well this guy has finally surfaced on here. Lets just say that he has produced more OPC wax hockey than OPC ever did. His line that his wifeis making him clean out his closet is a joke. A few of my fellow OPC collectors are trying to get him on mail fraud. If you look at what hea has bought in the recent past and then what he sells you will see a trend. He is getting wise to his bad rep now by having a few 1980 OPC graded by GAI and then saying that the rest of his packs are from the same batch. He has defrauded many people and the more neg. feeback the better. Ebay has been told about him numerous times but they will not do anything. I personally bought a 1986 OPC hockey wax pack and it was two cards short. If he submitts his own sealed packs to GAI then their reputation is going to go down fast. That is all I have to say about this deadbeat!

Don't buy them. As many here will attest, these packs aren't right either. Unfortunately, I bought a few before I started to read these boards...(see, another bad Ebayer brought to light by the CU boards, how about that?).

you guys are all 100% correct on the money here. i have been watching this guy sell '79 hockey packs for awhile now. i finally gave in a picked up a couple a few months ago. they were some of the worst i had ever opened. i couldnt prove they were already opened or non factory assembled but they didnt appear to be authentic. and now he is selling the gai packs. i have cracked open many gai packs and i dont think gai 8 or less means too much . how can this guy and a few others on ebay consistently be offering 79 hockey packs for sale while some of the other bigger and more reputable companies cant keep them in stock? most people arent opening up the old unopened packs so the packs can easily be tampered with. before i bid or purchase something from someone i havent dealt with yet i like to tell them that i cant wait to receive the item and open it right up. their reply to that comment is usually a dead giveaway whether the unopened material is legit.

Here's a related question. What should 1967 topps baseball gum look like? Could someone
tell me a measurement, what the color of the gum looks like after 37 years if you have
recently opened a 1967 topps baseball wax pack?

(Perhaps I am the only one who opened a pack and put the unbroken gum
immediately into a top load. I know the rest of you guys eat it ASAP, it's the
real reason you buy old packs image

this one is from 72, the 68's that I opened where browner, I threw those out the other day when I was cleaning up as they were really cruddy looking

  • Here is what he says now when he sells his packs.

This is a lot of 4 1975-76 topps hockey wax packs. The packs in the scan are the actual ones that you will receive. Bobby Orr is the highlight here. Several others from this box were recently graded by GAI as 8.5 NRMT+, 9 Mint. 4134649448 and 4135275417 are the recent item numbers. Not everyone wants their pack graded because the holders are troublesome to store and it becomes impossible to complete a real box if they are in a holder, plus if the intention is to open it the holder makes it risky to damage the cards when freeing it from the case. Therefore, some packs will be available ungraded. The rest of the packs are still in transit at global to be graded at their convenience. This is a great lot to store or begin a collectors box

    Oh brother.
  • Is say about 1 1/2-2 years ago I bought packs (baseball 1976 and 77) from them and suspected they had been resealed or actually made up by the sellers with crappy cards inserted ...... so I did as most and figured what the heck only a small amount of money lost for zero good in return ..... funny thing is, weeks after that, when I was selling off a bunch of wrappers I had accumulated from 72-77 in lots of 25 or greater, this seller bought them all, most likely only to sell more packs to unknowing customers. Hopefully one day eBay will remove them and/or they will be charged with fraud for selling tampered with items.

I've bought quite a few 1981 and 1986 FB racks from markssportscards and my only complaint are the lack of stars I've received. As of now, I only buy the 1981 sealed wax rack packs - if he can tamper w/ those then he deserves to steal my money!!

    >>selling wrappers

really? Why doesn't he put five cards from the same series in that wrapper, seal it
back up and make more money? Heck, send it in to GAI - they'll grade anything, it would
seem. No particular expertise in authenticating graded packs, it would seem.

There was one pack I got from him via GAI (but who packed the cards that went to GAI?)
that once removed from GAI's plastic, opened with barely a touch of the
exacto knife, and there was a bigger gum stain on the card I first saw than on the
card that had allegedly been tightly wrapped against the gum for 37 years...

    Draw your own conclusions.

don't for a minute think boyer is getting out of his scam business. he does this occasionally, clearing out all the wrappers and cards that he could not use due to too much wear.

as far as GAI, although I am not as extreme as 67 topps , it pi**es me off to know that GAi will authenticate anything from boyer. the fact that he sends in 20 packs ata time and 15 are fake should make the whole submission fake . they are aware he is a resealer and it's an embarressment that they will authenticate anything from him.

he's Gary Moser of the pack world.

that said I will not completely abbandon GAI packs. most packs are legit but some slip, just like trimmed cards. still a much better proposition than buying raw packs where most are fake and a couple are legit. the main issue is to see what they do long term. I have read that Paul Wright is not doing all the authenticating any more which is a problem. As stated in Mark M's book, he is the best outside of murphy and outside of those 2 , the experience level drops significantly .

Did you see who's currently N.A.R.U. as they say on ebay?

Guess this means I won't be getting an answer:

A while back Mr. Pack Factory sent me an e-mail asking if I wanted to spend an extra
$8 insuring a mailing. I asked if the insurance
would protect me against the possibilty that
the pack had been opened and re-sealed, and got no reply.

Interestingly, in the last month he had no negatives.

Hockey collectors believe that this "new" ebay seller

    angelsshoppingaddiction

    is "our friend":

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5117921750

Asked him why not put some cards in that wrapper,
and sell it as a pack, or did he run out of 1967 gum?

(I know..careful what you wish for)

    Who is Rober Maris?
  • pack-collector, you would had, someone switched the gum -- that gum is obviously a 1969 3rd series pack sample
