Nothing like a nice return on your investment, but what will this card be worth in two years?

Comments

  • Nope. It'll come and go. Sheesh, I sure could use $60k about now....

Card isn't even that special. 2 patches? It's all chipped around the edges too... I can think of a ton of vintage cards I could invest in for a better return than that card.

I have no idea what the value of this card should be. But, I have a question. How much would it cost to have entire game-used jerseys of each player?

I also have a prediction. This auction will be pulled by the seller before it concludes.
  • It should be worth about $350 next year.

At least the buyer's ID is kept private so noone knows what a maroon he is!!

Here's a thought - send me the $60K and I'll give you $350 bucks back next year. You can save the e-bay fees in the process!! image

does this card get you into any nba game? all access to what?
    Good for you.
  • when the card was only at $15k i thought it was ridiculous because you could buy entire game used jerseys of both guys and have enough left over to buy a Yugo.

now you could buy 2 jerseys and a Vette

I bet there is some shil - oops, forget I said that. I mean...private auction means something fishy is going on.

It is hard to believe this guy would shill this auction with so much attention from the hobby and the media. If he is, I hope ebay makes an example out of him and prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law.

....I won't hold me breath though as I understand that shilling is oftentimes difficult to verify.

Nobody who is smart enough to have $60,000 laying around for cards is going to spend it on that item. The seller is just having some fun.

I really can't see that card getting much media attention. Does the average American really give a crap about that card?

Also it does seem weird that the seller would state in the title and description how much the card should sell for. It's a 1/1. How would he have any idea of what it will sell for? Seems like a perfect shill possibility to me. If he uses enough shill bidders to get the price high and convincing people that it's a $100,000 card, all he needs is one sucker at the end to place a bid, or to retract one bid at the end to let a legitimate bidder win. If he creates enough hype, people will be convinced that $80,000 is a steal on this card and people will bid that high.
  • For that much money Kobe and LeBron better come work at my house for the summer.

It will get media attention if only to point out how foolish the person is that spends almost $100K on a modern basketball card.

There's no "will get" about it. ESPN has already done a story about the card on their website and it's been picked up other places as well.

This has got to be a joke, right? Almost 62K for this card? A new card with self-created scarcity at that. Just think of the entire sets you could build for that kind of cash.
