Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is "Author icon day?" Can someone elaborate clearly and concisely for me? I'd appreciate it.

it's that ONE day a month, usually on the 15th unless there is a transit across the sun or military payday, when you can upload your own icon. i don't know why military payday would change the date, though

I realize that storage is an issue (to some)...but why else would they just not leave this function turned on. I guess that question rivals...."why not just hire more graders so we can get our coins back damnit!"

People were uploading innapropriate pics. A few people ruined it for everyone. it was on all the time before.

for as much as i love the stunningly beautiful morgan in my avatar, i have something i'd rather use now. how would the icons affect submission times?

we get 1 day per month to upload a custom avatar/icon. based on what i understand from trying to u/l of the last couple of months, it's never a definite day.
