MF - if you're referring to the monkeys I posted, I only got one of each - I saw some guy post a lot of 200 of them on eBay with an opening bid of $2800.00. It didn't open.

<< <i>Jeb, How do you tell the difference between them and a regular Topps issue? I can't see any. Dave >>
1959: front - no gloss; back - line "Impresso en Venezuela por Benco C.A." 1960: front - no gloss; back - same as Topps US 1962: front - same as Topps US; back - in Spanish 1964; front - no gloss; back - black border 1966: front - darker than Topps USA, no gloss; back - bright orange
1967: front - no border, smaller than Topps USA; back - horizontal (this year differs the most from USA version, Topps used a different local printing company, the same one used for the 1970 card/sticker set) Cards 1-138 are minor league/Hispanic players, 139-188 are retired MLB players such as Gehrig, Cobb, 189-338 are same as Topps numbers and image.
1968: front - no gloss; back - line "Hecho en Venezuela - C.A. Litovan" 1970: no samples to compare 1972 Stamps, blank back 1977 Stickers, set of 402, but only about 50 are identical to Topps, with the exception of a blank back and very thin paper stock.
'62, '64 and '66 seem to be in greater supply, but still a tiny fraction of the number of Topps USA produced. It's still a mystery to me how they were distributed.

Thanks Jeb & Andrew, the 66's were the ones I was asking about in particular . The only difference I could see from the scans was that the Venezuelan looked darker but I thought that may have been a condition factor. Dave
Since all I've been hearing about is SMARTY JONES, I decided to scan an odd ball card from 1890 of a 25 year old Ky Derby winner. He won the Derby in 1865 during the last year of the Civil War...ouch!!! ...jay
WOLFY - Not sure, it was before my time by 120 years!
MURCERFAN - You have quite the bag of tricks, regardless of what card is being posted, you scan other ones. Now if only your cards can grade the same as the big submitters, you'd be my hero ...jay
I think Dave Edmonds is trying to give Tiberius a hot foot. That scamp!
Great cards, everybody. And thanks for the link to the previous Venezuelan thread. I learned a lot. I had all night to try to get over my Venezuelan Topps envy (since I have zilch). I decided this morning to scrub the gloss off all of my 1960 and 1968 Topps cards and write "Hecho en Venezuela - C.A. Litovan" on the bottom of the '68s (I think it means "the heck with Venezuela, go to California and light a van on fire". So that's what Dave Edmonds is doing).
A quick pic of a card that took me forever to get. I will take the gloss of it too (ultra rare 1970 Topps Venezuelan Candy Lid).
heres a very tough bench to find. i`ve seen 2 on ebay since around the start of ebay. one got by me, the 2nd one did not. 1993 pm gold; one gram 24k gold card of johnny bench was given to each attendee at the third annual rawlings gold glove award charity dinner in new york. the card was created from an original painting by artist daniel fruend. the cards came laminated. enjoy, lee
I'd love to see some of the other cards that you don't have on the set registry, but none of your other MSN links work. I wasn't sure if you were aware of that.
If you need help, I can host the images for you. Just email them to me - jeb@virtualizard.com
It does not show up. Neither does the '94 Carolina League card that you posted earlier in the thread. Neither of these scans has ever been visible. Check with your MSN service - are you allowed to use them to host files for use on public forums? If so, are there limits? I know some sites don't allow it - not sure about MSN. Again, let me know if you'd like me to host them.
It's there now! What did you have to do? I played around with the URL, but couldn't get anything to work. It kept asking me for my username and password. Anyhow, cool card!

I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
Did you happen to get your hands on one of the three 1980 Pepsi cards? I've never even seen it before. If not, who has it? Just curious. Email me about it - let me know if I'm wrong about the rarity.
heres a 1971 bazooka handcut numbered version #29, most all (99%) are unnumbered. psa authentic (notice cut on right side of card) went inside perforated lines. rarity of card is why its holdered (authentic) and not ungraded. psa`s words not mine. i`ve seen ONE of these numbered versions in all my yrs. here it is;
This is one of my rarest Stargell's. It is a 1972 Topps Candy Lid. It is the one on the right and is different from the much easier to find 1973. I checked the Beckett annual and it meets all the described attributes of the 1972s. It also states that the checklist as of 2003 was incomplete. Mike Mosier of Columbia City Collectibles(The oddball king in my opinion) values it at about $350.
hi gatorbait, good luck on finding one. there have been 3 graded (all psa-1) i sold one to 67standup, and i still have the other 2 in my possion. raw ones are out there somewhere, but i don`t know where. your friend, lee
<< <i>Hey, Speeder. What do the backs of the '77 Venezuelans look like? Blank? After seeing the Bench, I gotta get me one. Thanks - Gatorbait >>
If you can find any '77 Venezuelan that doesn't have the back torn up, you are a lucky man. PSA has only graded 4 of these ever! 3 of them are the PSA 1 Bench cards that Lee mentioned. The other is a PSA 6 Nolan Ryan --- I'd love to see the back of that one. Does anyone here own it? I would estimate that card would sell for thousands!
i know who sold it, he would not tell me the mans name who bought it, or the price. but he did say payment involved 2 gold ingots !! the ryan in question has no glue issues on back and was fairly well centered. it originally came back a psa-5, seller sent it back to be reconsidered, it then came back a psa-6. lee
