  • You and me both. They are hard to find and RAW seems to be that much harder.

does it really make a difference whether the name has been scratched? I have seen psa 9's that are scratched...

    also...
GoodR... was it you who had the PSA 9 1979 opc Dryden? Someone had that card a few months ago... it was posted during an smr thread...
    I love that card.
  • i prefer them scratched. i think the black scratch-off crap is ugly.

OPC's don't come with the scratchoffs, only Topps.

ydsotter, yes that was my Dryden. it's still one of my favorite cards
  • lol, that must be why the opc's always looked so clean. learn something new every day. cheersimage

well, if you ever decide to eBay it, please let me know...

I have decided to start adding some more Hockey in my collection...
I was a goalie when I was a kid... grew up watching Cornell University games in the 1970's and 1980's...

I also love the 79 set... it was the one year I purchused Hockey cards... I filled a huge box with them... I can still see all those gretzky rc's... I remember trading them for baseball cards.

i would love to collect the set in straight PSA 9. but since there are only 6 different cards in the set that have graded PSA 9 (i have owned 5 of the 6 at one time or another, with the exception of the Gretzky), i don't think i'll complete it in my lifetime.

i am going to hold on to it for awhile, but if no new 9's are offered i might sell it. if i do i will let you have the first shot before sending it to ebay

by the way, an open request/plea to anyone who has raw '79's- if you happen to have any of the following cards raw, i will pay the following if graded PSA 9....

    John Tonelli- $80
    Charlie Simmer- $85
    Bobby Smith- $90
    Ken Linseman- $75
    Greg Millen- $65
    Brian Engblom- $40
    Barry Melrose- $125
    Dave Hunter- $25

this is about 20 times their "raw" value on average, which i feel is a very fair offer. let me know.
  • Welcome to the 1980 OPC Set Registry! Good luck with your quest and if I ever have any dupes I will let you know. Where are you looking for RAW cards at?
  • Hey, I'm not greedy! All I want are 1980 OPC cards of Pete Peeters, Jim Craig, and Mike Liut in PSA 8.

Why are they all centered so poorly??????

Any extras out there - give me a holler. RayDBonz@aol.com.

    Thanks,
    Bill

    thanks Darren.

i'm not looking for any raw cards right now, i'll just stick to picking up graded stuff when it comes on ebay. i'm not really even interested in putting the entire set together. mainly trying to collect the major stars and HOFers, rookies, and Wings and Oilers cards.

    Bill,

did you get my email about your Plante rookie and WHA cards? i am interested in all three, so please email me when you get a chance
  • Sounds like a plan. I have about 120 from the set to get graded and hopefully I will be at 80% when all is said and done. Just need the extra $$$$$$$ or a nice hockey grading Special to come around.
