I did a search for a thread with feedback from collectors on their favorite (and least) coin series. I stumbled across this thread and thought I would resurrect it. What is your favorite coin series? What is your least favorite?
My Favorite - US Half Cents
Least Favorite - Roosevelt Dimes
What are yours?
I am a newer collector (started April 2020), and I primarily focus on U.S. Half Cents and Type Coins. Early copper is my favorite.
Good thread…..
I don’t collect anything modern so I’ll just break it down into my favorite older type coinage.
Favorite - all pre-33 gold and Morgans
Least favorite - I love all coins but if I had to pick my least favorite, probably trimes.

Wow this thread sure did not generate much interest back in 2004.
Fav = Lincoln cent
Least = Tie between Ike dollars and Franklin halves.

Side note: I hoard all National notes that I can find (and afford) from the city where I live (Lawton, Oklahoma). So far, I have ten notes or so, in $5, $10, and $20 denominations.

I didn’t particularly love Peace Dollars until this one came along.
I think most coins are great when you find the right one.

Least Favorite - Classic Head design
Old:
Favorite - St. Gardens
Least Favorite - Incussed Indian Head
Modern:
Favorite - American Silver Eagle
Least Favorite - Susan B Anthony Dollar
Let me phrase it in a different way
Least favorite = relatively common
Most favorite = relatively scarce
Love the designs, but the coins are relatively common, they exist by the thousands or tens of thousands by date/mintmark:
Most favorite - because they are relative scarce and hard to find.
Old:
Favorites: Colonials, Early copper
Least Favorite: Barbers, most commemoratives
New:
Favorites: None
Least favorite; Ikes, Kennedys
Old,
Lease Favorite: The Classic Large Cent 1808 to 1814, just plain ugly.

Most Favorite: 3 cent silver, just a cool coin
New:

Least Favorite:

But Ike comes really close.

Old: a cherry.
New: any cherry.
The older the better for me. Half disme, chain cent, 1794-5 silver, bring it on. Colonials, even better still.
Anything post 1964 when it all went fiat, no interest at all.
I still get excited over finding a nearly worthless wheat cent in change, so anything pre-64 would be 'favorite'
post-64s are not interesting-TimNH and I share similar taste
Favorite: St. Gaudens, love the design.
Least favorite: The Barber series, unless the coin is blast white in mint state, they look terrible IMO.
Old:
Favorite: Peace Dollars. Honorable mention: St. Gaudens, Pilgrim, Buff nickel, any Flowing Hair or Small Eagle design.
Least Favorite: Franklins, Morgans, and about 1/3 of the classic commems.
New:
Favorite: Sacagawea Dollar
Least Favorite: All quarters after the 50 states program, all dollars after the Ike (except the Sac), virtually all modern commems, Zincolns,
Barbers and seated liberty coins would make very good clad coins!
Favorite: Silver $ coins, esp. Trade $'s
Least Favorite: Anything copper; exception... Chain Cents
Old/Classic...
Favorite: Gold dolalrs
Least Favorite: Barber-designed coins
New...
Favorite: Not much but I'll go with Ikes because they are big
Least: Pretty much everything else
If this is for a US series:
Least favorite is small dollars (including SBA) collectively. I'm sure I could find some contenders among the recent quarters which I don't even recognize.
As a design, favorite is Draped Bust Large Eagle dollar, though there are other specific coins I'd rather own more. My overall favorite US coins aren't US Mint. All are something else, from colonial and territorial gold.
The Bust dollar is one I can afford, if I wanted to prioritize it over my primary collection which I won't. I'd like to own the full denomination set, but not at the $20K it would cost a mid to better grade circulated set.
Favs Capped Bust designs
Least Liberty V Nickels
Modern Silver Eagles
Least SBA
