Feel that Darkside creeping in and taking over, Coinaddict?

Interesting coins, definitely LordM territory. I'll bet he's out there right now, sweeping the ground with his metal detector, seeking just such treasure.

Actually, I am REALLY am starting to feel the DARKSIDE gripping me. I have been searching for some other designs that really grab onto me but I have not found anything that I like better then the Portuguese coins that I posted in the other thread. I was searching through a box of coins that my grandparents gave me and I had quite a few darkside coins. The prettiest coins that I found were some ten, twenty and fifty centavos from the Philippines. There are also some Swiss coins that are kind of pretty.image

Yes!!!! (note to self: master plan is working)..... image

I think the Philippines centavos and pesos (pre 1947) have one of the coolest obverse designs going. They are truly beautiful coins. The Philippines coins have a very interesting history too. They were actually minted in the US, and they are considered by some to be US issues. Also, a lot of the dates are tough to find in nice condition.

The Swiss coins are interesting, the Italians have some great designs... geez and then you have the Brits and French... Coinaddict, there is a ton out there.

The more you look, the more I do think your interest will grow. It is absolutely easy to combine an appreciation of the Darkside with your Liteside interests. They're all coins, and they're beautiful and interesting.*

PS--I do like that Portuguese design you have taken an interest in.

Ah, but the LordM vest and hat are only pre-1900 holey coins, so only that Napoleon III 5-centime piece would do! image

Nice assortment. Perfect for a keychain, if you ain't into wearing your coin collection. Or you could get some straight pins and start a holey coin collection on your bulletin board. image
