Please send me one of those 28s; thats the coin I've been looking for. I see a lot of them at a local show but they're always raw, overgraded, expensive, and possibly cleaned. What would you offer on an ANACS MS61 (it's the only slabbed one I've seen)?

I didn't see any 64rd 18-d Lincolns on the market for 2 years. Then there were 3 in the span of a few weeks. I think (or at least hope) I got the nicest of the 3. Had I had enough money all along to buy every nice ms64rd Lincoln that came to the market, 18-d would have been the last coin I needed.
  • If you found an ANACS in 61, here's what I'd buy it at....

PQ: $ 475 (very difficult to find)
    ok: $ 400
The other 97% of them graded at 61: $ 350.

In the last 5 years, I've only seen ONE Braided Hair Half Cent that interested me (it was an 1853 in NGC 65 RB). I was the underbidder. I've seen at least 20 others in this grade. Almost all have been 1855s, and every one of them was ugly.

For two years, I checked about 20 websites at least twice per day, read every Coin World and Numismatic News, went to every local show, Central States and an ANA. I returned two to well-respected dealers when the coins didn't measure-up and finally found a 1936 TyII Red PF65 Lincoln Cent without spots or haze. It was my white whale.

Now, I've been looking for an MS62/63 1942/1 dime for the last year or so.. I sold my XF and there seem to be zillions of AUs. But, uncs are tough and MS64's and up are too pricey.
