Which is I think I will just stay here in the darkside forum. Over the past few weeks I have been posting less in the lightside forum because of personal feelings. Not only that when I first started collecting as a kid it was all darkside coins which I know in my heart is my true love. I am seriously considering selling off most of all my lightside coins, with the exception of my proof Ike registry, and using the funds from that to build a bigger collection of darkside coins I enjoy. Please, no knock on the U.S. collectors, but U.S. coins are begining to look all the same to me anymore and I see no change from the mint coming out with new styles. There are so many wonderful things in the U.S. to use on coins than dead presidents. One must face facts in saying that there are so many varities of world coins one could never get board!

I apologize if I have offended anyone but this is just me speaking my feelings out loud. But I feel a stronger tie to the folks in this forum...so it feel like home

I still dabble in US type coins occasionally, even though my consumption of world coins has been averaging 20 to 30 per week lately, so many that they sit in boxes, waiting for organization.

The diversity, beauty, and history of coins from the world's historical time-lines seem to me (at this moment) to be inexhaustible-every week brings new treasures and discoveries, even at modest prices.

Will you do One From Every Country or will you specialize?

I guess you never looked much at U.S. commemoratives. There must be at least 100 different ones.

I collect any coin as long as I like it.

Maybe a little of both. My Irish coins will always be my specialty and I am learning more about Indian coins and have a great interest in Israeli and Palestinian coinage. I think I'd like to collect coins from the different British colonies from all over the world. I also have an interest in putting together sets from my birth year, working on my Aussie lunar set and just collecting bits and pieces from all countries.
So I have a lot to keep me busy and to discover

I guess I wanted to say is that you will find me spending more of my time here than in the U.S. forum

With my collection goals it's gonna take me several lifetimes to even get close to completion.

A major milestone in that feat would be the 1839 Ruble currently on ebay. Anybody got $30,000 or so that he/she is willing to donate?

You have echoed my setiments exactly, except that I made that choice a couple years back. I would like to add that I meet with quite a bit of rudeness over there and that convinced me that this was a far superior forum and the coins are beautiful. Welcome to the Darkside

I think that there is also a thrill that in collecting Darkside coins is that you don't see them in everyday change. Plus there is a mystery and a challenge sometimes in just trying to figure out what country it is actually from. Some of my Middle Eastern coins I have had to do some extensive research in just finding out where they are from.
