How to Clean Coins Seminar

My oh My !! I just received my invitation to the PCGS Dealer and Collector Invitational. On Tuesday June 15th David Hall will be hosting a seminar on How to Clean Coins. The Do's and Don'ts of coin cleaning.

Does this mean ?

How to get a higher grade?
How to enhance the appearance of a coin ?

How to dip and strip the skin off a coin?
How to "Burn" a coin

or How to fool the graders into seeing your coin graded as you imagine.
or
How to begin a career as a coin doctor?

What do you think ?

I posted a thread asking why are these Invitationals only in Vegas? DC, Baltimore, Richmond, Norfolk/Va. Beach, Ocean City, or Philly are also great locations to hold these things.

HEY WAIT!!! All those cities are on the east coast! Hmmmmm? image What is Tootawl trying to say here???

You are saying NGC should do an east coast thing since they are on the east coast.

Once and awhile the police will invite people with warrants to an event telling them they have won a prize, then arrest them all.

This does sound like a set-up from the coin posse to get all the doctors at once.

    BEWARE!!

  • Dorkkarl,
Very funny! I was thinking the same thing. Just like those televised crime shows that invite criminals to claim their free cruise. They show up and wham the cuffs get slapped on. DH will have a room full of coin doctors and wannabes, suddenly the doors slam shut and out comes the coin posse from the wings...

Is pcgs really going to start a conservation service like ngc? image

I'd kind of be surprised if they weren't considering it. Got to admit it's a revenue enhancer. Get paid to slab a coin, send it back with a sticker saying it might benefit from being curated at PCCS (Professional Coin Curation Service). Get a curation fee and another grading fee out of the deal.

I wonder if the invitationals are just an excuse for DH to go to vegas and gamble.

Mine too. Is that suggesting that we already know how to clean coins? A little acid and sand paper to get the crude off, right? On occassion, I've found the use of my Dremel tool to be beneficial.
