PCGS show submissions...

I see that PCGS will be at the Central States show. I plan on being there as well. I have a couple coins that I have been considering submitting to PCGS, and I'm wondering what others' show submission experience has been.

Do you have to join one of their "collectors clubs" to submit at shows?

What's the turnaround time on these types of submissions? Do they have guaranteed same-day service? Is their evaluation of coins more rushed/harsher?

I'd love to hear any input y'all might have. Thanks!

Are you going to bring your little itty-bitty doggie to the show????
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

I just re-upped my collectors club membership at the Portland show. So I submitted the four free coins there. Really you might as well join it saves you a couple of bucks on the grading fee. And if you submit at the show it saves you the registered mail cost of shipping to them. So doing it at a show is a good idea. If you go the regular submission route, they will take the coins back to PCGS and once they are logged in it's fifteen days like any other submission.

I have never done a one-day at show submission so I can't help you there.

As I said, I did it last show. Just got the coins back. It was a good way to do it.

You know...if they let her in I would consider it. Do you think they would?

Does anyone know if you can join their collectors club at a show?

That seems like the way to go, Clankeye. Do you know if you have to do all four or eight of your submissions at once?

I also have an NGC coin that I've been wanting to try to cross over. It's a 1921 Peace dollar, and I'd love to have it in a PCGS 65 holder. Does anyone know...once they have accepted the coin, are you covered by them in case of loss/damage/theft, in the same way as if you sent your coins to them the usual way?

This is my baby, by the way...

  • You have to do all 4 submissions for a gold membership at once (I did just that at the Portland show and got the coins back earlier this week). I believe with the platinum membership you have to do 4 at a time, though I'm not sure...
