My wife Linda is very supportive of my hobby. She even has purchased coins for me over the years as gifts. Wives and coins should mix, after all if your spouse doesn't support your hobbies, maybe you have the wrong spouse! I recently purchase a few coins from a message board member, and dropped more on coins than I had ever done in my life. Not only was Linda supportive, she told me to get three coins when I was trying to determine which one or two I was willing to get.

It is too bad if your spouse doesn't support you like my wife supports me.

Those who have supportive wives are extremely lucky, but it seems as though most of the long time collectors have wives like this while us newbies have wifes that are a little more difficult. For the most part my wife is somewhat supportive. She tolerates my collecting and spending money. I have noticed though that as the years progress forward she is becoming more acceptable of my hobby.

I would imagine that as the years continue to roll on she will continue to give me less grief. I love that fact that she isn't "into" coins. I like the time to have my own hobby. We of course share interests, but I think its rather healthy to have a hobby to one's self. Too much togetherness can be somewhat draining.

She has in fact bought one coin for me -- a 1924-S toned Refield Peace $ -- now in a NGC MS64 holder. It's one of my favorites in my collection. Perhaps in the future I will involve her a bit more, but I'm looking forward to the day that we have children and I can share my hobby with them, just Dad and ________.

My wife is a member of the ANA and you will eventually see ads from her on little coins.

My wife used to alternate between indifferent and irritated with respect to the subject of coins, with some eye rolling at some of the answers to "how much did that one cost?" imageimageimageimageimage

She knows I love them though, and we love each other, so she puts up with my occasional "let me tell you the story of this coin.." image

Well, every once in a while we collectors make a good purchase or discovery in numismatics, and it looks like we might make a significant amount of money on a certain coin in the near future image

when I sat her down and told her about the coin and how much it looks to be worth, she said, "that's the best 'story of the coin' that I've ever heard!" image

and now she's a little more interested in coins (just a little more though) and a little less irritated about how much money some of them cost image

Hey Jason, that's pretty funny except for one thing. I handle all the money, hold all the credit cards
and pay all the bills. All Mama has to do is say, "Babe, I need..."

My answer is always the same," if you're gonna buy, make sure you've read Consumer Reports/
done your homework and buy he best there is!" She can have whatever she wants, whenever she wants. "Don't waste your money on bargain basement crap" doesn't even have to be said.

She, too, is a member of the ANA, she is actually the "shipping department" around here. I'm the
Buyer/ Seller (HMFIC) CEO to Treasurer-she is in charge of shipping and records. I have a very cool
    wife. Brother...if you only knewimage
