Is that sort of sepia toning? It looks good on BTW! Pretty coins!

BNE--the coins (especially the third one, the 48-S) are more colorful than the pictures.

I have yet to take photography to the level of art that Cosmicdebris and Russ have.

I need to improve my lighting and the fact that I just snap hand-held pics.

My cheap camera doesn't capture colors like blues, greens and reds very well. Those coins are light gold around the rims, with the 48-S having beautiful blue/green and gold.

BTW. the mintage on each coin in that set is 8005.

    Clank:

I wish you luck in completing your set AS LONG AS YOU STAY BEHIND ME IN TERMS OF COMPLETION. It would be totally unfair for you to finish first because I've been working on my set for a good long while. And, I know you don't want to be unfair. So, slow down...take your time....smell the roses....in fact, water and feed the roses if that will delay you.

    Mark

Oh, by the way: NICE coins!

    Mark--

As one of the fellow appreciators of these coins, I know you know... that the truly outstanding examples don't come around every day, so going slow isn't going to be hard.

I'm going to take my time, and wait for really nice coins. Which does not necessarily translate to the highest graded--just standout for whatever grade they are.

Nice set, Clankeye. I collect the Booker T's myself and know they're hard to find nice. Usually a lot of chatter on the cheek/chin -- sometimes from the striking and sometimes bag markets. I see a little of that on the coin to the left, but still a lovely coin.

    Enjoy,

JHF--yes the 48 has some of the typical jaw/cheek "chewage" that you see on these coins. In truth, it's a little highlighted by that image, and in hand I believe the coin makes the 65 grade. The other two are very high end for the grade, IMO.

The dealer I bought them from went on at some length that he felt they were all undergraded (surprised?) but... I think they are correctly graded, and that's what I want. image

Not withstanding all of this hallabalube, I still wanna story.

By the way, I like the middle coin best. Give you double face for it.

Once there was a grizzled old bear who offered Clankeye a pitful sum for one of his fine Booker T commems. Feeling sorry for the bear, Clankeye accepted his offer, but when the bear reached out to take the coin from Clankeye, his paw was blown into a fine mist by the shotgun of a local hunter who happened to be in the woods nearby.

    "Ouch!" winced the bear.
    "Bummer!" exclaimed Clankeye.

From that day forth the bear was known as "One Paw Bear" and he found it much harder to try to open honey jars, or rumage through dumpsters for the remains of jelly donuts.

    The End

    Very nice, Carl!

I'd been thinking about a Booker T. Washington set for awhile, just haven't pulled the trigger. This may be my inspiration!

Will this help push you, dpoole? 51 PDS set that I just got from Larry Whitlow. I want to thank Mike Printz for helping me out with these. He's one of the good guys:

And Mark--I know I said I'd go slow, but sometimes you just have to grab what's dangled in front of you. image

The luster is to die for on these. Mintage on the D & S coins is 7004.

I cannot, for the life of me, understand or comprehend why in the world anyone would want to collect coins depicting the portrait of a wrestler from the WWC????image

Either way, they do display adequate luster and nice toning!image
