Everything seems to be back up -- with some threads missing -- except for the Rare Records, Stamps, and Autographs forums. Does anybody have a clue as to what and why????image

    Maybe they were just updating the system. It's all back now, so it couldn't have been that big of a deal.

    Oh no, there's an angry thread posted by Carol in the OF. I'm wondering what the "usual suspects" did that riled her so to close down forums instead of just suspending the guilty.

    When I first started posting here, I thought the open forum was going to be a great venue for some open-ended posting worthy of the internet community. It's pretty amazing that a forum like that can be dominated by individuals of Jerry Springer mentality.

    What happened (as near as I can glean from what's left) is that Cam, Goose and Russ got into a giant pissing contest (including birds, gays, etc) and Carol got so pissed she shut 'em down the hard way....

    laurent, the OF is still a good source for such quality posts. Not coincidentally, Askari is responsible for a goodly amount of them. image

    I was just starting to look at threads there and didn't see any titles that stood out as controversial, but that doesn't mean one was -- or it might have drifted to a later page. Don't worry, Sumnom -- from what I've seen of these before, you didn't miss anything. I'm still curious as to why Carol shut down most, if not all, of the forums. It would have been easier to have just suspended the offenders' privileges for a while.

    Apparently the best info on the deal is over "across the street" -- here's a link for anyone who cares. Seems to me a pretty petty reason to nuke the innocents along with the guilty.image
