  • That is a slab from a small batch of slabs that got out with a wrong mixture in the plastic back in the mid 1990's. I discovered one last year and asked him about it. David Hall said they will re-slab them for free if you want.

    The Q&A thread

It is inert and dosen't mess with the coin but is pretty neat. I didn't re-slab mine but sold it for a premiuum ove the normal price on ebay.

Wow, that is kinda neat. I know that there are slab collectors out there that might want this one.

Did david say if the wrong mixture in the slab would damage the coin in the long-run? Or does it just make this cool effect?

  • The few ones I have seen they haven't been affected at all and it shouldn't hurt the coin since these slabs are over 8 years old already.

Looks like they forgot to add the non-yellowing agent.

Is that yellow label also normal? Can't recall ever seeing a yellow one.

Yes the label is normal. That slab was produced between 1990 - 95 and the label comes in all different colors from canary yellow through the same blue they use today. They started out green but the color on the labels was not stable. The yellow ring is NOT normal and is desirable among slab collectors.
