I just got this card in the mail, 1960 Larry Osborne with a great shot of then Briggs Stadium in the background. Any of you set collectors out there know of any good "stadium" shot cards? It could be an interesting subset to collect. I'd love to see some pics!
Can someone help me link this pic so it shows up on the thread?

Here is one of my favorites with a nice big halo over Billy's head:
Cool shot of the Big A! I'm starting a list.

I have the image but am unable to upload.
stolen from someones Registry set. killer card
This is one of my all-time favorite cards!
morrel meats Kofax.
1960 Topps Mickey Mantle ('60 Topps must have even more)
1963 Topps Mickey Mantle (probably shouldn't be included in the
list since it's such a small portion of Yankee Stadium, but it's
the most recognizable feature of the stadium -- the arches.)
1958 Topps WS Batting Foes (Mantle & Aaron)
1985 Topps Mark McGwire RC (does anybody know which stadium is in
the background? I've heard that it's Tiger Stadium, but I'm not sure.)
1952 Bowman Stan Musial (mattconroy called it! Not a real photo, but
the stadium background helps the card become a true classic.)
1950 Bowman Duke Snider
Any of the 1933 Delongs (another stretch, I know, but it's a stadium)
Didn't someone recently ask if this boad had run out of topics??

Edited to add: What's that Brooklyn player pointing to in the right background in the Hodges pix? Jimmy Hoffa? Oh wait, 20 years too soon... Sorry!

In the Hodges postcard, it looks like the guy in the suit is writing something while balancing the paper on his leg. The other player (Reese ?) is merely watching him write. Was this picture taken AFTER the game, as it appears that Hodges' uniform is dirty. Notice the infield dirt on his left hip and thigh.
Also, in the 57 Podres card, notice the "Schaefer" beer sign in the background. The "h" and "e" are actually lights which would indicate whether the play was a hit or an error.
I thought perhaps the guy was having a wardrobe malfunction.
Also remember the distance number on the left-center fence in the background was something like 461'
as has been observed here, Old Wrigley Field in Los Angeles, now a fine shopping center.

This was taken at Forbes Field. You can see the University of Pittsburgh Cathedral of Learning off to the left and the score board in the right background.

If the Cardinals collectors out there look at your 1971 Cardinals cards, it seems like every Cardinal card is an action shot in Shea Stadium, all most likely from the same game!
I always find it interesting when photographers have used the same shot on different cards. The most unique one has occurred in both 1971 Topps sets - the regular issue and Greatest Moments. I believe it is the 1971 Joe Morgan regular issue card (#264) and the Jerry Grote Greatest Moments card (#54) have the same photo, but are cropped differently. If someone has images they could post of these two cards it would be greatly appreciated by myself and the other board members.
Murcer - no need to wait for my death; I've got a '59 Drysdale that's almost as nice (Psa 5) if you want to trade that '60 Koufax....

Gotta love those steel girders. I remember going to the old Yankee Stadium as a kid ( I was actually at the last game, courtesy of Phil Rizzuto!) and sometimes stuck behind those big poles. Not that it mattered because these were the 1971-74 Yankees, not exactly the Bronx Bombers! When you have Jerry Kenney, Gene Michael and Celerino Sanchez in the same lineup...other teams' pitchers were volunteering to pitch against those Yankee teams.
But I have always liked the Topps Giant card of Johnny Callison that shows the outfield double deck of old Shibe Park. It has the colorful advertisements on the outfield wall as well as the signs on top of the roof.
Great card of an old park.

I always thought it strange that the 1969 Topps card of Sammy Ellis (#32) showed an old picture of him with the Polo Grounds in the background. That park had been torn down for nearly 6 years when that card came out!!
I remember Murcerfan had a great regional card of Dusty Roades (I think) at Crosley Field. While there are tons of cards of Ebbetts and the Polo Grounds, the cards of Crosley, Shibe, Sportmans Park and Forbes are all a little more rare.
