New Camera, and My First Coin Pics

Took a little playing around, and I only have 1 lamp right now, but I finally got the gold color to go away!

Here's my first 2 pics that I've cropped to post here. An 1882 Morgan in PCGS MS63, and a NY Sample Slab...

Looks good so far George...

You need to get some Reveal bulbs to cut out the yellow color in the photos...

Play around with the white balance as well...

Nice job on the pics, reverse looks a bit fuzzy but could simply be the coin shining too much..

I know... I'm gonna get Reveal Bulbs... floodlight style to, so it's more diffused...

I just don't got the money at the moment...

Oh, and it's a Fujifilm FinePix A205... so far, I think I've got some pretty decent pictures here...

Yeah, it's a low end camera... about $100 to get it new on EBay... only 2 Megapixels... but that doesn't mean much when you're just using the pics for the internet...

No white balance that I can find... came with a 16Meg XD card... but, on 0.3Megapixel, I can take like 100 pics... and I actually have to do it on 0.3M, or else it's too big to upload here... I think I'm gonna invest in Kriek's Image Hosting service...

The A205 and A210 are pretty much the same, except the A210 is a 3.2 MegaPixel... otherwise, they're almost identical...

Ain't nothing wrong with those pics. A little white balance issue, but nothing that can't be solved with PS Elements. good job.

You don't need reveal bulbs--just white balance.

A review online say's this,

White balance Automatic, Manual (Fine, Shade, Fluorescent light (Daylight), Fluorescent light (Warm White), Fluorescent light (Cool White), Incandescent light)

Nice pictures, is it difficult to set up and use? Is this your first camera for this purpose? I was thinking about getting one but I'm a boob with these things and was worried about it being complicated.

This is my first digital camera... before, I've only used a flatbed scanner. Set-up was simple, at least if you're using WinXP, and probally with Win2k, also, since they auto-detect USB devices. But, you just install the software, hook the camera up through the USB port, open up the program that comes with it, and open it with whatever program, edit, crop, whatever, save, and you're done...

Nice, I use the FujiFilm A203 and I must say it takes very accurate pics of how coins really look once you tweak the settings a bit.

I am very impressed and newly inspired by your efforts.

We just got our first digital camera as well.......you have now motivated me to try to decipher
the textbook of instructons that came with it.

I've only used a scanner up to this point.

It's so much better than a scanner... actually shows luster and depth, not to mention accurate color.......

and it takes so much less time for me... I need to try using a 5x or 10x in front of the lens, cause I wanna show an RPM I have on a Merc of mine...

Oh, Gandyjai, did you ever get that Ike back from PCGS? What did they call it?
